The first MiniDisc player and recorder I owned. I don't know what happened to the actual one I owned, but I bought it again on eBay recently.
The MZ-R70 was among the earlier and mid-range generations of MiniDisc recorders. It's powered by a single AA battery. It was not a NetMD variant, so any sort of recording was real-time over an audio minijack connection instead of accelerated over USB.
At the time, it really felt like MiniDisc was the next medium after CDs. I had tons of MiniDiscs and special cases with sleeves to hold them all. MiniDiscs themselves were aesthetically pleasing and lots of different brands had so many different styles and looks. Some of my favorites were from TDK.
