TUAW has coverage of Adobe announcement of a new program called Lightroom at MacWorld 2006. Adobe plans direct competition with Apple's image editing program Aperture that features impressive RAW image editing and an easy workplace for batch photo tweaking. Where Aperture fails Lightroom excels. Aperture is notorious for only working on high end systems with good video cards thus leaving Mac Minis and some iBooks out of the game. Lightroom boasts faster program speed alongside increased Mac compatibility and will likely sell for cheaper than Aperture's $499 pricetag. Check out the Lightroom beta here. Update: Here's a review of Lightroom by Michael Reichmann.
