Ressence Type 11 Pine watch

I've loved Ressence watches for some years now. They don't have the typical cachet among watch lovers like Rolex, Audemars Piguet, or Vacheron Constantin. But the eccentric design and mechanics of their watches do it for me. If you haven't heard of Ressence before, they have a very unique movement and the Type 11 has the next generation of that movement, dubbed ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System), which helps it be thinner than some of the other models.

The way it works is a bit crazy. The top part of the watch has a sealed, oil-filled chamber while the mechanical movement sits below in an air-filled chamber. The two halves of the watch are coupled magnetically, and as the time changes the entire watch face rotates. Also, you might have noticed that there's no crown. Instead, you wind the watch by rotating the entire back.

And then there are the little details, like the power reserve indicator that has 48 micro-ceramic balls that move to display the remaining power. The Type 11 is one of Ressence's mid-tier watches, but that doesn't make it easily obtainable at just over $30,000.
