After an 11 hour flight from San Francisco, we landed in Paris around 10:45am. We got a bit of cash from one of the ATMs then took a train from the airport to the metro station and from there into Paris.
We dropped our bags off at the Westin Paris Vendôme around 12:30 but couldn't check in for a few hours so we walked around the neighborhood, the 1st arrondissement, just next to Place Vendôme.
After a bit of hunting we decided to get a bite at Le Café de la Paix right next to the Place de l'Opéra in the 9th. That was a mistake. While the food was alright, it ended up being close to $100 USD for just two sandwiches.
I didn't get much sleep on the flight so I returned to the hotel for a quick nap.
Around 4:30pm I woke up and went for a stroll. Our hotel was directly across the street from Le Louvre, Jardin des Tuileries and Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.
We got dinner at Au Pied de Cochon a nice walk away in the 1st arrondissement after receiving countless recommendations from friends. Again, this was another bad food choice for the day. It was slow, overpriced and the food wasn't up to par. A tourist trap.
On the way back to the hotel we swung by Notre Dame on Île de la Cité and proceeded to the Latin Quarter for a late drink.
