It has been along time coming but Media Temple is ready to unleash their latest offering, the (gs). What makes the (gs) so different from the current (ss) Shared Server platform? Everything. First off, Grid-Server technology ensures that your website can grow as fast as it needs without being limited by the server. That means (gs) customers won't experience the so called digg effect.

The new (gs) is located at Media Temple's Tier 4 facility in Southern California with redundant everything. Pesky service outages (with the exception of maintenance) are pretty much a thing of the past. In addition the Grid-Server is great for anyone from new user to professional coder. New users will love the one-click WordPress installation (as well as automatic updates) and revamped account center while coders will indulge in subversion access and a capable Ruby on Rails environment. I'm no RoR expert but when Kyle found out that the (gs) will have up to 1GB of dedicated RAM for Ruby apps, he started bouncing off the wall. Other luxuries include MySQL 4.1.11, PostgreSQL 7.4.7 and the ability to switch between PHP 4 and 5.

Account Center If you think this is hot, wait until you see the new AJAX-ified webmail interface.

Media mavens will love how the new Grid-Server plans start out with 50GB of storage and 1TB of bandwidth. The (gs) is living up to be a fantastic server platform regardless of what you plan to do with it. If you're looking for reliable and affordable web hosting or just another server to keep track of your coding sandbox, check out the (gs) soon.
