This post is just to let everyone know that in a few short days I will be holding a contest of sorts. I’m not exactly sure what the contest will be yet, but I know the prize will be one year of excellent webhosting and a domain name via MediaTemple’s new hosting giftcard. My goal is that the winner will receive the prize by Christmas. Send all of your friends and family here and tell them to stay tuned. Until then take care.

I really need hosting but an not old enough to get a credit card, so please make this something anyone can enter in.
Yup, anyone will be able to enter this contest. You don’t have to be a certain age or anything. I already have the prize right here and will send it to the winner as soon as the contest wraps up.
I can’t wait to hear what I have to do for this. I know a lot of cool things I could do with this, this would definitely be welcome. It’s very generous of you, really.
Is it a problem living in Europe ? I can always use the address of my brother in Michigan if it is.
Wow Paul! You sure are contributing to the community by not only sharing your knowledge (howto-s) but with a year’s hosting offering! Unlike some folk who lurks on forums soliciting paypal donations for tech advice o_O
It’s guys like you whom I have the highest respect for, the selflessness in helping people out.
Looking forward to the contest. Getting hosting and a domain name fits in very well with my plans for my site (which is unfortunately on hold).
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind words Ka-Meng… and all of the K2 help you’ve dished out on the BB forums.
Hi Paul, I’m was scratching for some ideas for your contest and I came up
with some. I was thinking that your contest could be be divided into
different simple rounds where participants could try every round and earn marks
for example if there is 5 round then there is 5 marks to win. So people
could be given the chance to try out there best in any one of these.
The round could be as follows :
# round 1:
A good idea for the actual contest like the one I am giving.
# round 2:
A word for the web that people could use to say that they found
out something cool.
# round 3:
Find out a host on the web that could help people host their free
sites (because people search for so much but always end with either tons
of ads stuff and don’t know how to get rid of them). And for the free hosting
devise a trick to help people
get a clean space (hide/trick the ads) for the hosting that they are suggesting
# round 4:
Find out a cool new stuff that new operating system should have to make
the techy time with your PC an enthusiasm one.
# round 5:
And a last one. How about suggesting a great article for you (haha) to write
# round ..:
and so on that was just to give you some ideas: you decide.
So people could now post/email you the round number and their answers and you would collect
their name and decide whether to give them that great 1 point per round and finally the one
that gets the 5 out wins out.So how is it.
Finally I would like to congratulate you for your great techy/nano articles that I like to
read, I was asking how you get all the time to post those great things and at the same time
swallow those physics and mathematics courses. I also do Physics and man what a …… you
must have to swallow these, was really asking how you do ? Thanks anyway and see ya !
Whoa Hans, you’ve definitely spent some time thinking about this… more than I have. The only thing with your rounds idea is it seems like it would take a bit longer and I would have to do a lot of hard judging. :-| You’ll see what idea I came up with a while… I still have two big articles in the works that I am considering posting before the contest, but I might leave one until after.
As for the time question… I stay up verry late just about everynight (3-4am is the norm… and I have roommates too so it’s hard to go to sleep before then) to get my daily agenda done. However, next semester will be a bit different; I’ll have more classes and harder ones at that so I might not post much until the weekends.
