Unified Feed Theory

December 30, 2005 · 6 comments

Colin from TheUberGeeks.net has a great article discussing and more importantly explaining what feeds are in a way that everyone can understand. This article is a great companion for my highly-acclaimed Getting Started with RSS how to. David Brunelle also has a good tutorial for displaying various RSS feeds on your site. So now that you know what feeds are, try grabbing my feed.

If you maintain a website, I would also suggest unifying the feed icon throughout your site with Matt’s famous feed icons. If you use Safari you can also get in the game by changing the bland, blue RSS icon with this piece of software.

I want to use it just because it is so damn pretty. We don’t have to unify the colour though, right? No reason it can’t match. You should use the blue maybe, try to coordinate.

Yeah, I am going to start using it throughout the site shortly. I think I will make a nice blue one.

You should put a little thing on here so we can know when you’re on the site. You ever consider putting up something like a Geomap?

I just downloaded the installer for safari, but it doesn’t seem to have worked. I have restarted safari 3 times and still I have the blue RSS button. Any ideas why??

Here’s an idea for you Paul – how about a WP plugin to provide the correct the RSS feed icons in WordPress?
