Taking It Too Far

October 5, 2006 · 12 comments

Apple finally called and let me know that my MacBook had been repaired. I had given Apple my MacBook for 3-4 weeks to fix the random shutdown issue. It seems like they fixed it; they also replaced my discolored keyboard, trackpad and top housing for free. Getting to the point, this mini-rant is about what happened on the drive back from the Apple store.

I heard a song on the radio entitled “MySpace Freak” and yes it was a rap song about the online social networking giant, MySpace. Needless to say, I can’t believe a song like that was able to get so popular. Well at least I now know that rappers are taking note of the web, so it’s only a matter of time before I hear a 9rules or WordPress song on the radio. For those curious, I did a bit of searching and found the song. Enjoy (or not).

How long did it take Apple to repair the issue? I need to send mine in for some issues with my logic board. So far I’ve been RSD-free, but I’m going to ask Apple to replace my heatsink when it goes in so I don’t run into RSDs later down the road.

3-4 weeks. They had to ship it off somewhere. =/

That’s why I’m waiting. I should be able to hold off until at least November as long as my MacBook doesn’t start seeing RSDs.

HA! That song is the shit.

Have you heard John B’s “Stalking U On MySpace”? You can hear it on (surprise) his MySpace page, or his EP via iTunes.

I’m going to see him and Edison Gem in CLT this Saturday.

Wow…

That’s all I can say. Wow…

I completely agree that this is “taking it too far.”

Argh!! 3-4 weeks is a long time. I was kinda scared it would be a long time. Did they give you a loaner or anything? The Random Shutdown issue is really bothering me, but I’m not sure I could give up my computer for that long. I need it for work/school.

Dontcha just love Apple? What a great company, I think all their products are sooo cool, like the Black Macbook, god people will think I’m so hot when I get that. The hardware is waay better than Windows PC’s.

That reminds me of the series of rap compilations (by IRC users) entitled ‘IRC Bitches’.

This type of geekory has been going on for years, really.

I’m surprised there isn’t a Country song about yahoo!, yet.

Then of coarse, there is ‘nerdcore‘ rap.

I’m willing to bet that soon there will be a nigerian Ubuntu rap song, promoting Linux to Africans.

I know this is an old post, I found it while searching for your Word Press post about making a header image clickable, and it caught my eye.

I worked in a repair shop the other year when the MBP came out. The random shutdown issue is related to – get this – the excess heat sink thermal paste ran down and got onto the contacts for the memory, and cleaning them off with rubbing alcohol on a non-static cloth completely resolves the issue.

Otherwise, I really like Apples.
