Flickr

I use Flickr a lot. I have over 12,000 photos on my Flickr account, with over 500 coming from my iPhone alone (with over 2,000 on my iPhone as mentioned in this post). I was enamored when the GPS-toting iPhone 3G came out as I assumed my photos would automatically be geotagged when I uploaded them to Flickr. Unfortunately that was not the case and the only way to have Flickr geotag those photos was either by using a third-party iPhone application [click to continue…]

Shutting Down My Blog

October 22, 2008 · 67 comments

That’s what Valleywag author Paul Boutin wants me to do in his latest Wired magazine article aptly-titled Kill Your Blog. Don’t worry, I am definitely not going to heed Mr Boutin’s so-called advice and I’m not shutting down my blog (although I bet this post title just got me a ton of clicks). Neither should you. The cat’s out of the bag and Flickr has officially launched their foray into the video world. I was fortunate enough to be a part of the “super secret” beta test along with ~260 users a few weeks ago (Thanks Richard!). In that group we were given info about the video [click to continue…]

No I’m not talking about Apple’s Time Capsule backup device, rather a new project from the folks at Photojojo called the Photo Time Capsule. Just set it up with your Flickr account and every month you’ll receive an email highlighting some of your best Flickr photos from around a year ago. [click to continue…]

As an update to my flickrSLiDR slideshow tool post, I’d like to announce that I have sold flickrSLiDR. It is now owned by a guy in Sweden who bought it from me for a cool $3,000. Not bad for a weekend project if I may say so myself. As part of the deal, the flickrSLiDR graphic will appear in my sidebar for the next 3 months. If you have any flickrSLiDR-related questions, please direct them to AdMarket. [click to continue…]

May 18, 2007

Back in 2005 I wrote an article detailing how to embed flickr slideshows within your blog or website. Since then, that post has received over 200 comments, a crazy amount of links and numerous mentions on popular blogs. I finally got the message that embeddable flickr slideshows were a hot item.

How To: Flickr Slideshow Badge

March 20, 2007

I love flickr and I’ve always yearned for a unique and interesting way of displaying my recent flickr photos on my site. Yeah, I could always just grab the standard flickr badge and style it up nicely with some CSS kung fu but in the end it will still be a bunch

Flickr Update: Change Photo Layout

March 13, 2007

I just noticed that flickr added a minor tweak just now. You can change the layout of your photos page. There are some small design changes as well but the Flickr logo still bears the gamma tag. To change your flickr photo page’s layout, head over to

Gift Ideas for the Flickr Fanatic

December 13, 2006

I love flickr. I really really do. No longer do I litter my hard drive with gigs and gigs of scattered photographs kept in folders all named some variation of 101MSDCF. I keep my 5,500+ photos easily accessible on flickr, organized with photo sets and abundant tags. So how can you add on to flickr’s [...]

Top 7 Techie Flickr Groups

May 25, 2006

Flickr has come a long way since its debut in February of 2004. In fact, Flickr’s traffic grew nearly 500 percent during the period between December of 2004 and 2005. There’s no doubt that Flickr wouldn’t have had this type of growth if it were merely a photo storage site. Instead, Flickr [...]

5 Steps to Getting that Flickr Group off the Ground

February 24, 2006

Flickr is everyone’s favorite online photo-sharing service. It may be beta, but it has more than enough features to rival many other photo-sharing services in their final state. One of these features is groups, which allow you to share photos and discussions with people. Dozens of groups are made everyday, but only [...]

The day Flickr released printing capability for photos, I selected my favorite ten photos and ordered 4 by 6 prints. I ordered them with the economy mail option which estimated an arrival date of November 11th. It was a nice surprise that the Yahoo! Flickr printers are located in Norcross, GA as delivery [...]
