In the smallest sense of the word, Facebook has expanded to include mobile phones today. Just visit m.facebook.com with your web-enabled phone to interact with the mobile-optimized site. I say “in the smallest sense of the word mobile” because it’s not adding much to the features and offerings. Facebook opened the flood gates this morning, allowing anyone to sign up for an account. Previously, Facebook was restricted to college students with a .edu email address, then it was opened up for a few corporations as well as high school students. A revamped Facebook launched today. The main site design pretty much stayed the same but when users login they will notice a few different things on their home page, such as the current events and status of their friends. Also there is a section called “Mini-Feed” on user profiles showing their recent activities such as edits on their profile, posts on others’ walls and added friends.

In an effort to play catchup with MySpace, the student-oriented social media site Facebook has released a new feature called notes. Notes brings blogging functionality to Facebook in the most simplistic form of the word.
