I have had problems formatting the SD cards, then transferring the files to an external Hard Drive, and then reusing the SD card, with or without re-formatting. Suggestions? Please reply by email or skype phone 540-322-1767. Thank you.

After another 12 hours of reading forums, checking manufacturers web sites, looking at hardware... bottom line is the flash memory cameras with their h.264, AVCHD, etc. is a TRADE OFF. You pick up battery life and a trendy looking camera, "Look ma, no more video tape". You loose the ability to edit the video, use Pinnacle or similar programs to trim scenes and have fun with your video. The compression is too great to allow editing at this point. I'm very unhappy that the trend is away from editing software and the "junk" software packaged with these cameras. "Look ma, I'm going to burn the zillions of tiny .mp4 files to a DVD". Of course the DVD will suck and nobody will want to watch it.

Still haven't figured out how to blend individual files together. Whoever came up with that for these cameras is an idiot. Considering buying the new Flip UltraHD, as it's < $200 and has software built to merge files together. At least those are smarter idiots - they maintained the nightmare of ind. files but give you a built-in tool to fix so can use like 99.9% of the world uses these. Techies - throw 'em in with the lawyers of the world!

Bought a Samsung HMX-H104BN camcorder and returned it a week later. I've used Pinnacle and other editing software, the files from the Samsung (.mp4) can NOT be edited in Pinnacle. I was blaming Pinnacle but it's the file format, it's the AVCHD, .mp4, etc. etc. yadda yadda formats that are all over the place. H.264 is a mess, all of the fun has gone out of video editing with these new 'flash memory' compression format cameras. Sony Vegas 9 Pro, can't do it either. What a mess.

I hate this fucking camera. Don't buy this impossible piece of shit. The mp4 files are worthless and you will travel fruitlessly over the world looking for a player that will play the files. What's the point if you can't play it back? Whats the mother fucking point. DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP! DO NOT!

Please send me the answer to primak@netvision.net.il.

I can't figure out how to use the camera such that it doesn't save to a new file every time I hit "pause". As noted in a previous post, if I'm recording an event, want to hit pause, I just want it to keep recording as one file (like an old-fashioned "tape" recorder would do). Is that possible? I'm not a techie, and it's way too time-consuming to try to splice together 50+ different files from my son's sporting events. Many thanks.

Hi Dinesh,

What software are you trying to download? If you need to view your video on your PC, you can use Nero 9 which can be downloaded from:

The other camcorders I've had have all let you hit "pause" then hit it again to "unpause", and it kept things as one file. That way you don't end up like I did - 52 individual files of your son's basketball game. Maybe some people like 52 individual files, but I can't figure out why or the benefits of that. I would much prefer one file of one event. Still trying to figure out how to do this.

Why would you need them as a continuous file? Pop them into movie maker and render them as the same quality.

Yes, however if the connection is made through an 1/4 to 1/8 converter it probably won't fit. Mine didn't.

I solved the problem of formating the SD card. Look like the camcorder can format the 8 GB card and not the 16GB, even though the user manual mentions the 16GB.

Does anyone know how to keep this camera from saving individual files every time you hit the "pause" button? Every time I hit pause it saves that segment as a separate file; it has a "combine" feature, but only if you're not out of space on either the hard drive or a sim card. Very frustrating. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

The review was right on and made some very good observations. I would add however that I avoid the lower and higher resolution settings as they are either too grainy or too jumpy on a typical computer. My iMac plays them okay, but my work laptop does not. Also, with this camera a tripod is almost a must otherwise the video is almost unwatchable. It's not like my old Sony Handycam that I could give to one of the kids and have them run around with it taking video (we got some very entertaining footage that way). As the review said, for the money, it is huge upgrade if you are used to five or ten year old technology. Also, mine has a camera feature which works pretty well. I would not say the quality is great, but it is passable. The last point I would add is that this camera literally fits in my coat pocket (even in my jeans pocket but it is uncomfortable) so it is really great for taking along with you even if you are travelling light. But Thanks Samsung for a very satisfying and exciting product.

I must be doing something wrong. Every time I'm recording and try to pause, it saves what I've recorded and when I re-start, it starts a brand-new file. So at my son's recent basketball game, I had about 52 files for one game. Can anyone provide me with some direction on what I'm doing wrong? Many thanks.

I bought the MX10C late last year for $250.00 from Big Lot!. It works fine and I really like the video quality and its functions. However, I have a problem with formatting the SD card. Every time I turn on the camcorder, it keeps telling me the SD card is not formatted even though I formatted before use. So far I only use the internal memory to store the video. Does any one know the problem?

Samsung made several cams; MX10, MX20, MX25 (They are SD cams) and HMX10 is HDcam (720P), HMX20 is FullHD cam (1080P).All of them are similar design (cylindric shape & swivel grip) and recording by H.264 resolution but separately each cam has different functions.

To ALEXVI:
As we say here in Australia: "Pull your head in, mate!"
There is no such thing as 1080i25.
Its not possible. U really should refrain from telling people they are wrong,
especially on a chilled out consumer forum.
If u carried on like that on Creative Cow, u would be removed.
FYI: 1080 is the vertical resolution, and the"i" means : interlaced fields, and the "50" means that it is in fact 25 frames per second, because 1 frame is made up of 2 interlaced fields.
By your definition, the world is running its media at 12.5 frames per second.
Check your facts and enjoy the sensation that u have a lot to learn!
It is also foolish to compare specs of systems using numbers that dont relate.
FYI: look up:interpolation, 4:2:2 colour, and rolling shutters, and maybe u will see how deep the rabbit hole goes. Go easy.

to Andrew Swihart: you are completely wrong that this 720p is a downgrade in resolution. It's 720p50, not 1080i25. If you take any 1440x1080i25 video and manage to make it 50p, _maximum_ what you'll get is 540p50 (540 lines, 50 frames per second progressive). 50p, let it be only 720 lines, but progressive!, will always look smoother in comparison to any 1080i video, but 540p (which you can achieve from a 1080i footage with a lot of pain) vs 720p -- there's a difference in favour of this Samsung HMX10C. The amount of visual information it's capturing is higher than of an average 1080i camera (do the math, 1280x720x50 is larger than 1440x1080x25).

The problem with 50p is that you can't show it on a DVD which limits the usage of this camcorder. Also it doesn't look good in terms of manual controls (they're are important) and also I doubt in it's lens and CCD quality. But still I think it's an excellent value for the price and I'd recommend this model over _anything_ else below $2000 (!) for those who are shooting in HD with an aim to watch videos on a PC or for Blu-ray. If I didn't already have an HD1080i camera, I'd jump on HMX10C on the first sight.
