Looks cool. I wonder why they spent the first 2 minutes of the video showing us the “old way” of taking screen grabs. They should have just dove right into their app.

This app would be very useful but I don’t think I’m going to shell out $20 for it and I would need to since the FTP upload is what I want.

Hey Paul, thanks for the link back to my article. GrabUp is a great app. I still use it almost everyday even after months of having it.

I love it because of its small foot print on my machines resources.

Thats fine if thats what a person wants. I dunno about paying for the pro features was worth it considered they are available free in other applications. Personal preference.

Also, it appears that both Skitch and Jing need an account created to get them working, even if you eventually configure them with your own server..

As I stated earlier about Skitch, and the same with Jing, I just want minimalist software that doesn’t do editing or anything special. I don’t even want to know the software is running. This is what grabup does for me. That’s just how I am.. I like being productive and clutter-free

I would have to say nay. I like InstantShot. It does pretty much the same thing except upload by itself.

And anyways I don’t waste much time uploading pictures. So I don’t think I would need it.

You should give littlesnapper a spin too, it aims for a similar market but has a few extra features like a local library to help organize the screenshots.

Something that could be very useful for these tools is integration with Flickr for automatic uploading & tagging.

I’ve been using GrabUp for quite a while now, even before they went 2.0

It’s the simplest form of screensharing tool, but something that works amazingly well. With 2.0, the customer FTP support is great, since you get direct URLs (Pro only)

Ofcourse, if you need better management, Littlesnapper is for you.

Whilst I think GrabUp is an excellent app and service, the lack of image editing is a deal breaker for me. Most of the screen grabs I take need some sort of comment, explanation, arrows, etc, in the image. So, for now, I still use Skitch (not a huge fan of the UI, agreed, but it does the job, and does it relatively quickly).

LittleSnapper looks pretty awesome, too, and has something else I’m really interested in – organisation for screen grabs. Plus, it has built-in editing tools, so I might give that a look.
