Apple released 10.4.8 to everyone via Software Update tonight. The update comes in at 211MB (for the Intel version) and is fairly comprehensive with details listed on Apple Docs. Interesting updates include resolving “performance issues that could occur when connecting to a Comcast network” and “improved reliability of iTunes syncing with certain iPod models”.

22.3 MB the ppc version. :-)
The PPC update is 22.3 MB. I’m wondering how long Apple is going to provide support and equivalent updates for its PPC users. It’s not like I don’t want to upgrade, just don’t plan on forking out the cash to do it this year.
It was interesting for me to note that the PPC version of the update was only about 25MB. Sure, some difference in size is expected, but almost 10 times?! Weird, if you ask me.
I noticed that this update fixed the animating clock icon that shows up when an iCal event alert happens. When I upgraded to iTunes 7 it messed it up and wouldn’t work. Now it does.
could it be that more things are simply transferring to universals rather than Rosetta? So the Intel download is bigger.
I think the reason the Intel update is so much bigger than the PPC update is because there is an updated version of Rosetta included for the Intel Macs. I got the 22.3MB update. PPC all the way, baby!
