Microsoft released Messenger 6.0 for Mac today. The most notable improvement has been the move to a Universal Binary with the ability to chat with Yahoo! messenger accounts and display your current playing track in iTunes trailing close behind.

Boo, no webcam support! If Microsoft want us to leave Adium and start using Messenger 6.0 they should include a least voice support…

@Sujay- adium doesn’t, but why use Microsoft products if they don’t bring anything new to the table?

titanium_geek: This does bring new stuff, the status messages the emoticons are the two adium doesn’t provide. I can see myself using this release way more than the others and maybe replacing Adium, well it would if I could have a tabbed chat window. Anyone konw of a Chax for MSN?

The Windows Live Messenger service is my main IM protocol, I used Adium for a long time but the bugs just got too annoying, it was frustrating trying to explain to less tech-savvy contacts why our file transfer failed 3 times in a row.

I’ve been anxiously waiting for iTunes track display / personal message support so this news just made my day. :-)

For video support I found aMSN which I’ve used for a while now and been really happy with it. http://amsn.sourceforge.net

My MSN:Mac v 6.0 crashes whenever I try to open a conversation! Help please! I have tried changing various read/write preferences, but that does nothing.
