I know you said you like roundcube better then gmail, but I'm trying to setup roundcube to be a frontend for gmail. My wife's work has just blocked gmail (black listed it, but none of the other mail services).

Anyway roundcube supports remote IMAP hosts and ssl, and gmail supports remote IMAP clients with ssl, so configuring the two to work together *should* work, but I can't seem to find the right settings as I keep getting "Connection to IMAP server failed".

My current config is (which matches what gmail wants):
$rcmail_config['default_host'] = 'ssl://imap.gmail.com';
$rcmail_config['default_port'] = 993;

Any ideas on configurations?

Well, I installed on a fast Windows 2003 Server and find Roundcube to be very slow. Much, much slower than Squirrelmail. It takes 6-12 seconds to check for new mail. The spell checker took two minutes and did not find any mistakes in an email with only two words in the body.

I sent a HTML email and included an emotion icon, but the URL to the image did not include the domain. Just a local source URL as below:

Don't get me wrong... it's a sweet package, but it's slowwww. Maybe I need to change some settings.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm pulling my hair out trying to get roundcube going on mediatemple (gs). Is it at all possible? Has anybody managed to install on the grid? If so, how did you do it? Where did you place the roundcube folder?

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks

RoundCube is slow and buggy. It doesn't show my messages in my inbox or when it does, it shows emails that were deleted long ago. When I get new mail, it says there's no mail even after updating the page. Sometimes it says there are 5 messages in the inbox, so I click and there's nothing. I'll wait for now.

I've spent hours trying to install roundcube on mediatemple gridserver, but just couldn't get anything to work. I installed it previously on dreamhost so I have an inkling of how to do it and have followed directions carefully.

Could anybody explain what needs to be done to get it to work with the gridserver of Mediatemple? I have a feeling that it has to do with some setting on the sever end...

ThankS!

I'm trying to set it up with mediatemple gridserver but can't get it to work at all. I'm not sure where things went wrong since I successfully set it up on dreamhost earlier without a problem. I just get the following message when I try to access:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Anything I should be aware of with the gridserver?

Thanks

Great how-to. It works just great. One remark. If the sql database is not on the same place with the server you put the webmail, then:

$rcmail_config['db_dsnw']='mysql:// roundcube:pass@localhost/roundcubemail';

the localhost is no more localhost, it is the name of the server where the sql database is situated.

Great work. Thankyou!

the localhost is no more localhost, it is the name of the server where the sql database is situated.

Great work. Thankyou!

Hello,

I'm trying to setup roundcube with virtual users in postfix. From the guide, I don't have a virtuser file for postfix and i'm thinking the database query might do the trick. Unfortunately, it seems that there is only one connection to the database and it's the roundcube database, not the one containing the virtual users for postfix. I plan to add the tables of roundcube to the postfix virtual users database and see if this works. Anyone have luck with this? I need some opinion on what i'm about to do.

Hi, I have configured RoundCube. I can log in to the IMAP Server, view emails, etc. But i can't send mails. I have sendmail + AUTH + SSL in other server, but always i get the same error:

SMTP Error: SMTP error: Connection failed: Failed to connect socket: Operation now in progress in /.../roundcubemail-0.1-rc1/program/steps/mail/sendmail.inc on line 340

I have the next lines in main.inc.php:

$rcmail_config['mail_domain'] = 'example.com';
$rcmail_config['virtuser_file'] = '/etc/mail/aliases';
$rcmail_config['virtuser_query'] = '%u';
$rcmail_config['smtp_server'] = 'ssl://teucro.dcaa.unam.mx';
$rcmail_config['smtp_port'] = 465;
$rcmail_config['smtp_user'] = '%u';
$rcmail_config['smtp_pass'] = '%p';
$rcmail_config['smtp_auth_type'] = 'LOGIN';

thanks in advance for the help,

Oh I forgot to include to write my email address properly
I have configured roundcube for Pilgrim Christian College. I have fixed some of its firstime login bugs via a registration script I created that authomatically assign values to the users table of the roundcubemail database for the successful registering user with Ability Mail Server.

My only setback now is:

How will I be able to edit the login page so as to customize it with links images and html formats that will look better than its default homepage and that will allow for the users for many options such as naviagation, help, sign in and demo. And I would like to share my breakthroughs with the rest of the serious webmaestros that are on the net as well.

So if anybody welcomes me, here's my question:

Where will I begin to edit the login page and from what file (or included file)?

Thanks for your supporst.
