Flickr Goes Gamma

May 16, 2006

Online photo sharing web service and community Flickr has made the leap from Beta to Gamma. New features include a majorly redesigned interface, a new Organizr and a Person menu. You can see what everyone is talking about on the Flickr blog and then experience it yourself.

What do you think of it? I only noticed about half an hour ago; was linked to a photo of Kottke in a sombrero and the first thing I thought (apart from Jason looking silly) was that it all looked quite strange. But! Having had a nosey around, it’s pretty neat. It’s taken on a more ‘application’ feel to it now, what with the drop down menus and all.

I pointed this out to you, I would have posted an update but my host is having hiccups at the moment.

Isn’t an internet service never be tagged as final?

While perhaps some of the features might not be new, they sure are a lot easier to get at.

The new Organizr is a lot more powerful and flexible than the old one was.

Oh no… Flickr isn’t Flickr without the ‘Beta’ next to the logo. I’m loving the new design though.
