Wow! I just picked up a 24 inch Acer, and while it is an awesome monitor, I think it is going back for the 22″. For my setup and desk space, it is just toooo much. I have to keep moving my head back and forth, and I do feel like I am sitting in the front row at the theatre. I use this for a few simple apps, and for web browsing. It just seems like a bunch of wasted screen space. Maybe one day I’ll get another 24, or even a 30, but for my needs at this time, 22 is more than enough.

I fully understand the desk space issue which is why I bought a computer desk from IKEA that has a deep table top that I can set at many height levels.

I can push back the monitor way back and still have plenty of room for keyboard mouse, etc and my Macbook Pro which sits next to the monitor.

You should check it out as it also has additional shelves for things like speakers etc..

I am really not knocking 24 inch displays but simply find the extra 6 inches makes a world of difference to me.

Have you looked at 26 inch Displays? Samsung has a great one the T260.

I only wish my MacBook Pro was able to drive two 30 inch LCD’s!

I guess I can always buy a Mac Pro to do just that! But I hate desktop systems. ;-)

Mike - because my desk is only 2 feet deep. :-/ maybe one day I'll try out a 30-inch again but at the moment I find 24" is a good fit for me. I guess I just need a monstrous desk. Nowadays I have two sizeable studio monitors that must fit on my desk, in addition to my MacBook Pro.

To whom it may concern..

Seriously I cannot believe you went from a 30″ to a 24″. i understand the part about your head moving back and forth with the 30″ but why is the monitor 2 feet away from your face??? I have my LG 30inch about 3.5″ feet away and its just glorious. I also have many 24″ around (Dell, Samsung, Acer) and I cannot go back to that size! I used to have a dual 24 inch but I would argue that THAT configuration had me head bopping more than my since 30″.

FYI, I code for a living..And I know many coding friends who also cannot go back to a 24inch.

Great monitor. However, I’m suprise to see that no one is mentionning any color calibration problems. Those Dell monitors are notorious to exhibit over-saturated red when use with OSX (Dell support team has aknowledged the problem). What are you settings and calibrations (hardware and software) ?

Paul, if I buy this 24 inch screen, will I be able to plug my Macbook (non pro) on this device and use the max resolution? If not, is the quality still good?

Well after harassing Dell for a bit to get these in NZ I finally got mine two weeks ago. I’m absolutely loving it and just wanted to say it’s amazing when working with my PS3 looks great and haven’t noticed any ghosting issues, even in games like Burnout Paradise.

My only problem at the moment is I have to change the cables round all the time because my PC is going in via DVI and so is my PS3.

I have the same Dell monitor and I love it. I’ve had it since summer of 07 and it hasn’t given me one bit of trouble – not even a dead pixel!

Personally, I like the real estate, I use 2 22″ widescreen monitors that work well with my Dell multi-video card docking station… work.. and movies in full screen at the same time.. :-)

@Travis – yeah the MBP can work with 1920×1200 no problem. My MBP was also able to work my 30-inch at 2560×1600.

Yea, did you notice any ghosting? I recall this was an issue that was debated on a lot of forums. Also, why didn’t you get the 2408 model?

I’ve tested the Dell 30″ and it was too big.

I’ve tested the (4) 24″ wide quad setup above and gave that up a few months ago for (3) 24″ wide Dell’s side by side.

FYI, for those who asked, MacBooks (Pro or not) will operate with closed lid if there is an external keyboard (USB or, I think, bluetooth) and monitor present. It might also require external power, but I don’t remember, since it’s been a few months since I’ve used this setup.
