Disqus, in my opinion is the future of commenting. It simplifies that work of the webmaster and makes everything much much simpler.

There are actually a few different ones out there. I have been giving this software a go and see how it pans out.

You have a great site and i return to it ever now and then as i find the time.

It does look at bit ’slashdot’, and suffers from the same problem that you threads quickly become so tangled that you can easily get lost.

I guess the ability to host the plugin on your own site, would allow you to style the comments so that the replies within a thread are ‘grouped’, with the background colour getting paler the further down the thread you get.

I opened up a thread on Disqus to ask about where comments are stored. Apparently, on their servers.

For me, that’s not acceptable, given how ruthlessly easy it would be to save this stuff to the WordPress database for self-hosted solutions.

Obviously, for those running off WordPress’s website, it’s a different thing all together, but it should at least be an option.

Should they offer that option in the near future, count me in…
