@Stephen – downtown is right next to gatech. I mean downtown as in near bank of america/coca-cola.. not downtown as in the Westin with the rotating thing. either way, im just a few blocks off-campus.

Definitely the most impressive Airport menu I’ve ever seen displayed. I’m also in Atlanta and in my off-howell mill neighborhood I can see 12 different WiFi networks, I thought that was impressive heh.

Are you really downtown? Seems that would be inconvenient for a GA Tech student. . . just curious.

Danny, If you are on the lookout for a new ISP in the UK, I suggest you head over to DSL Zone UK and read some of the reviews. There are a number of ISPs that are very clear about what they give you - Set download limits and no throttling.

My school upgraded the network this year from WEP (running slow B wifi) to a much faster 802.1g with WPA2. Im loving it :) They’re also drastically expanding the network all over the campus.

Unfortunately Ian, the devils in the detail. Take Sky Broadband for example. http://broadband.sky.com/showmeskybroadband.htm
The max package, is “unlimited”, but subject to fair use policy. And that (at least in the UK) is perfectly legal. The one thing that ticks me off is finding the fair use policy, they send you on a wild goose chase.

I’d love to find a decent ISP here without a Fair Use, or traffic shaping. I heard IDNET is the best to go with here in the UK at the moment.

That’s annoying about Verizon, but unfortunately a scenario I am very used to here in the UK. Many providers of broadband services sell their services as ‘Unlimited’ only to either cut you for using their service too much, or by sneakily throttling your service.

There really should be some law (both here and in the US) that means companies cant just change the meaning of the English language as and when they choose!

Verizon needs to get it together… They told me/my dad that it was 10gb when I went over and they threatened to drop us. I remember a better time when unlimited MEANT unlimited…

But on a happier note: Woot Go Intel!!! Can’t wait to see those new chips on MBP!!!
