The short version: Paul is a 21 year old Computational Media student at Georgia Tech, former Yahoo! intern as well as diehard Mac and flickr user with a penchant for all things high-tech.

Paul Stamatiou

The long version: Paul Stamatiou is from Houston, Texas and attends the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He is currently studying with a major in Computational Media and is trying to figure out where to take that knowledge after college. Paul initially spent a year and a half with a major in Computer Engineering before deciding that classes like digital signal processing weren’t where his interests were - the web and harnessing it to create useful applications to facilitate various things and connect people.

Don’t be surprised if you see him creating a web/tech startup in a few years. Paul is currently working on the startup Skribit, which evolved from an idea of his during Startup Weekend Atlanta. Paul’s intellectual acuity leads him to be more of an “idea man” involved with product management than being strictly a developer. One thing is for sure however, he will be living in California after he graduates. You can take a look at his (slightly outdated) resume on LinkedIn.

Paul is Greek, as noted by his last name Stamatiou, pronounced Stam-uh-tee-you. When in Greece, he can speak enough Greek to find the nearest Internet cafe. Paul was in a Nike advertisement that began running in December 2007.

Computing Setup

Paul’s current computing setup involves a Santa Rosa Apple MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM MacBook Air and a 30-inch Dell display 24-inch Dell display. He also has a cheap file server running Ubuntu 7.10 that he wrote about in a series of posts called DIY: 200 Dollar PC: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3. For leisure, Paul setup a 100-inch screen and projector along with 505 Watts of sound in his living room.
