Vacation Notice
I just wrapped up my final exams for this semester on Wednesday and will soon be boarding a flight to San Francisco for a week of vacation filled with visiting friends and exploring California again among other things. I will probably have some downtime to write here but if not I thought I would put this up. In the meantime, I’m sure my Flickr stream and Twitter account will be quite busy.

Photo I took last year looking down a street in SF from Coit Tower.
Similar to my last visit, I plan on taking many photos of companies and startups I visit. I will be accompanied by my roommate and we are likely going to rent a car and drive to Los Angeles to visit some friends, then head to San Diego to see the Red Bull Air Race and swing by Barcamp San Diego if time permits.
Upcoming posts will probably include my Dash Express GPS review, a post about Little Shoot (I’m a beta tester) and a review of Summize’s powerful Twitter search.
Today’s agenda most likely includes visiting Pownce, OpenDNS and the GigaOM Hadoop meetup. I start summer classes on May 12th so I will be enjoying this little getaway as much as possible.
Do you have any recommendations for must see/do things in the bay area? Robert Scoble’s Upcoming account is quite helpful when trying to find things to do.

Too bad you guys are going to LA & SD, as the Maker Faire is this weekend in San Mateo. I’m going to try to get there on Saturday for a few hours.
Yeah I noticed that - we might try to do one day of Air Race and one day of Maker Faire, albeit a ton of driving in between.
How do you organise all these visits to startups?
Are you invited or do you invite yourself along?
@Adam - I have good friends at a lot of companies in the bay area.
Hey dude you guys need to check out Santana Row(if you havent already). Especially the V-bar on top of hotel Valencia. Lot of tech mavens hang out in their regularly for drinks and such while their exotics are parked on the street below.
Also check out berkeley and stanford if you havent. Pretty interesting tech culture over there.
OH… and don’t miss Armin Van Buren on May 10 at Ruby Skye, SF.
Christopher Lawrence on may 9th.
I always try to make it to Ruby Skye when I am down there.
Hi Paul- On the LittleShoot front, I’d encourage you to hold off on writing about it for the next beta due out May 10th. I’m oddly kind of blowing myself away with some of the things I’ve been able to add over the last couple of weeks — very much worth the wait.
Have fun in San Fran. If you’re looking for a little downtime, Kabuki spa is just awesome and only $20 for the whole day.

You’re going to the air race? I wish I could…
Looking forward to the upcoming posts. I’ve been quite a lurker around here.
:D
Have a great time!
Have fun!
Hi Paul
I visited California last year (first timer). As you have already been to SF, have you ever been to Death Valley National Park?
It was one of the biggest high lights of my three weeks in California. I have a few images from Death Valley on my Flicks account, that is worth checking out (the nature set).
Have a nice trip!
Cheers from Denmark

Hi Paul,
When I went to visit San Francisco, this April, I visited this nice startup called Loopt, located in Mountain View, 590 el camino real, if I recall.
Basically, it puts you and your friends on a map (http://loopt.com) on your phone.
I wanted to make some comparison with the portuguese based company called Wizi (http://wizi.com) that also puts you and your friends on a map on your smartphone/pda …
I also enjoyed a lot the MOMA, nearby the Moscone center.
Have a nice trip!
Cheers,
Guillaume
Paul - if you want a local CA style taqueria with an amazing tasty hot sauce that goes on an infamous burrito stop by La Victoria off First Street in Downtown San Jose.
absolutely lovely photo of san francisco paul, good on you - take it easy and relax from internet blog marketing for a while!
