2008 PSTAM Reader Roll Call
Depending on where you reside, 2008 will be arriving shortly or is just a countdown away. This blog more than doubled in subscribers in 2007 so I want to take this time and do another “roll call” type post. The spotlight will turn to you and I ask you to post a comment, especially if you have never done so before, and let the other readers and myself know who you are.
Let us know what you do, where you’re from, what you’re interested in, what you want to see on this blog in 2008, talk about that funny thing your dog does or whatever. Even if you comment on every post, feel free to talk about yourself a bit. It’s great to get to know the people that read my articles.
I wish you all a happy, successful and safe 2008. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at my new year’s resolution.
As for what I’ll be doing tonight, I definitely won’t be crowded in at Times Square. I went two weeks ago and it was still fairly packed.. I can’t imagine what it will be like tonight.

I’m here! I’ve been kind of quite lately when it comes to blogging and commenting, but I hope to change that in 2008.
Hi,
i found this blog and you Paul, in 2007 on novmeber. I found it
accurate on all contents especially reviews.
I live in Milan, Italy i’m university students but most of my time i spent in my company cilscolors.com as web developer/system engineering.
I’m here as well! My dog doesn’t really do anything interesting, but uhh.. I’m an informatics major at Indiana University, and I’m really into home theater gear (speakers, amps, projectors, etc). I’d really enjoy any kind of reviews on this stuff. I’m also into photography (both still and video).. I’m not much of a blogger and I’ve never left a comment here before, but I’ve been reading the site for about a year now and I really dig a lot of the stuff posted.
Hi,
I’ve been reading your blog for a couple months now, and really love the reviews and guides.
I live in Palo Alto, CA, go to high school, love Macs and technology in general, and write for MacTips.org. I can’t wait to see where you take the blog in 2008!
I’ve actually been reading for quite a while, but never frequently. I started using RSS more often recently, and so I subscribed to your blog and read every article now. I’m a High School Senior, hoping to go to college/university in Boston. I’m a programmer at heart, but I waste my lots of my time gaming, and am a bit of a computer hardware nut.
a little about me…
I’m a Web Designer, Web Developer, & Wordpress Rockstar.
I’m also a student studying CS in Atlanta and i like making websites and the like.
This blog is sort of a mixture of everything tech. I remember back in the early days there were a lot more web dev stuff, coding, how tos, etc.
That would be cool to see again. Are you still even doing that kind of stuff?
What’s going on with skribit? More blog post about life in a start-up would be awesome, especailly since I could have been apart of the team had I known there was a meet-up lol.
oh, btw, first time commenting.. lol took me a while i guess.
ummm im ralph
ive been reading since the beginning (2005) I was searching about cr824 and I found this site.
I was in school back then and now I’m in the Air Force
for 2008, just keep blogging Paul
Happy New Year, Paul!
I’m reading from Northern Ireland (Belfast) which has got to be pretty rare (we only just got running water here).
Well,
I’ve had the blog on my rss since last Friday, but have already read most of it.
As to myself, I’m a 22-year old mechanical Engineering student from Brazil, currently living in Toronto and still amazed with my first Mac(an MBP purchased in July!)
I find the contents of the blog very interesting AND useful, and would really like to see most stuff on both productivity and organization on the Mac, even more when concerning the native software, which I’ve only really started using last week.
Anyway, keep up the good job and have a great 2008!
Well
Hi Paul!
Well let’s see, I’ve recently starting reading your blog and I love it; basically enjoy reading everything you’ve got to say. I’ve been following you on Twitter for quite some time as well. I’m from San Diego, CA… I’m a student at the Art Institute here majoring in graphic design, and I love it! Other things I love: Apple products, designer toys, photography, random and tech videos on YouTube and Vimeo, PG Tips.
Here’s to 2008! Let’s make it better than the last!
I’m antonio from Mexico City.
My passion in life is Arts, Media & Entertainment Management, but my secret passion is web design and development and pretty much all things tech. Apple geek for quite a while, and also a quite proud one, just this year I got a job to equip with all the IT infrastructure an Elementary School. The twist is that I managed to convince the owners to get all things Apple. It was just beautiful, everything runs in Macs there, from servers to workstations. I could just sit and stare, of course when things are simple and efficient you have time to spare. =)
I’ve been around for little less than a year, and have kept up to date religiously since then. I just love the reviews, they really are for the average joe or jane, so complete yet simple and straight-forward, and most important of all, based on actual use and experience.
So Happy New Year to all, and especially to Paul. Keep the good work, so far you’ve been great.
Hi! I’m Nicola from Bologna (Italy). I’m a computer science student at the local university, and I have been reading your blog since 2006.
Happy new year to everybody!
Felice anno nuovo a tutti!
Hi Paul,
Can’t exactly remember when I started reading your blog but it has been almost 2 years I guess. What I like most about this blog is the constant review of new tech products and software (yeah, I’m a tech geek).
Let’s see…I’m from Singapore but I’m currently based in Australia for job training.
Looking forward to more great stuff from you in 2008! Happy holidays!
To Paul: You know (of) me; We’ve spoken before, are Facebook acquaintances, Techies, so on and so forth. I just wanted to note that I’m in New York City at the moment, on 44th and Broadway, 15 seconds away from where they’ll be dropping the ball tonight, and I can attest to the packed nature of what it will be like at midnight…Yeesh. You got out in time, haha (although it still would have been nice to meet up and talk at length).
To all: I’m a long-time reader, yet a sporadic commenter. As someone interested in the technological aspect of the concept of global conversation, I try to take in the viewpoints of various members of the blogosphere - Hence, why I’m here. Constantly transitioning, my home is simply wherever my feet happen to be at the moment, and my interests are always shifting ever-so-slightly, but my focus of evolving communication remains steadfast as the foundation for my endeavors.
Hi Paul!
I’m Emanuele, I’m from Ripa, near Lucca, in Tuscany. I study Computer Science in Pisa and I follow your blog since 2006.
I’m an Apple fanboy ;-)
Happy new year!
Hey! Thanks for the opportunity. I am a daily reader of your posts b/c I am a subscriber and enjoy reading your content. I work as a Math Teacher and love technology and try hard to catch up with Gen X. I spent quite of time reading subscriptions but yours is in the head. I really appreciate the work you’re doing and the way you handle your page.
Happy New Year!
Hello,
I’m a daily reader of Pstam.com from Zaragoza, Spain.
Good luck, Paul.
Hi Paul (and others),
I’m Mattijs, a 23 year old student computer science from Utrecht, The Netherlands. I’m a tech lover just like you, and that’s why I keep coming back here. I really enjoy reading your posts, although I don’t reply to them that often.
Besides my study I’m a web developer and run my own web development company here in the Netherlands with 2 other students (one just graduated). The web is where my interests lie and where I spent most of my time. Besides that I’m a sports fan and train 5 days per week (nice Nike ad btw :) ). I’m a (ice) skater and mountain climber myself and try to be in the mountains as much as possible. Unfortunately I live in the wrong country and have to travel quite far :(
Keep up the web related posts in 2008 and happy new year!
Hello,
I’m AJ (female). I am from West Palm Beach, FL but I’m currently attending school in Gainesville. I am a second-year law student at the University of Florida and I have been following this blog since 2006, the year I purchased my first Mac - a black MacBook.
Happy 2008!
Hey there–I’m John, a 24 year old Information Assurance Engineer from Washington, DC. I forget how long I’ve been subbed to this blog, but I think it’s been at least a year and a half or so.
Happy New Year!
Hi Paul/ Readers,
Well I found this blog almost a year ago and I’m still an avid reader due to the great content and accuracy. Great job Paul keep it up.
At the moment my greatest nag is getting a replacement for my Mighty Mouse, so mighty mouse replacements would be great! (but thats just me).
Happy 2008 everybody.
David (Ireland)
Hello all, I stumbled onto this blog sometime around when I got my first mac in May 2006. Wanted to learn all I could about my new computer and OS X. Turned into quite the amateur geek in the process. Let’s see… a few things about me: I do not have a myspace or facebook page or use twitter or any of that stuff. I really don’t get it. I just bought my first domain ever and have no idea how to go about doing anything with it, but know what direction it’s supposed to go in. I actually prefer Illustrator to Photoshop. Yea, I said it! What? I love my iPhone. I love to silkscreen. I just purchased 7 new bookcases to take on some of the burden of my ridiculous book collection. I am teaching myself how to cook. I am lazily trying to learn Italian. I’m the one who recommended Chimay red label beer for your 21st birthday. I live in the South Bay area near L.A. I have probably accumulated more units in college than most people with a BA (and maybe even a masters too), and yet I only finished my AA degree, and I’m starting to realize this is a really good thing. I drink tea (plain), not coffee (ever). I really wish I could pack a single bag right this minute and go join my brother in Africa for a few months.
Thanks for all the reviews and info.
Happy 2008 to all!
I live in the world- Australia and South America mainly. I enjoy reading your blog because it is entertaining, interesting, useful, and inspiring. After reading your blog, I feel like blogging.
My dog… well, we’ve finally got him to do that trick where you put a treat on his nose, then on command tosses it up and catches it.
Thanks for the blog, Paul. I have enjoyed it, and been happily collecting ‘Stammy Points’ from late 2005 or so.
Love all the reviews you’ve been doing lately, they’re the best.
Keep it up.
Hey, subscribed in December 06. I’ve still got a year and a half of high shcool though, but I will try getting to the States for Uni, currently in Canada. Don’t ask us what we want to read, but write, or else it won’t be any fun. ;)
Hey all - Happy New Year!
I’ve been reading a little over a month, good stuff! Reside in Manhattan and work in finance. Enjoy tech news and reviews, video games, Guinness etc…
Looking forward to ‘08!
Hi!
I’m Francisco from Chile…
hope ya all have a great 2008
cheers!
Been following your blog and twitter feed for a few months. Your passion and knowledge of technology are very impressive and makes for good reading. The Nike thing as very cool. The HD advice from the web celebs was interesting. Looking forward to seeing what you do after graduation.
The reason I started reading your blog - I think - is because of a referral from Lance’s blog (which I think you help him with). As for what I’d like to see, I always enjoy when personal stuff gets mixed in. Your “church” talk as of late either makes me think you carry the torch for believers in the very secular tech world…or perhaps it’s just an annoyance that is part of your raising :)
Either way, I’m looking forward to following you into ‘08. I’ll try to remember to use skribit for any legitimate blog requests. I’m guessing that it’s one of those things that you don’t “get” until you start using.
Happy New Year Paul!
Hello
I have ben reading this blog since march or so, I love the reviews and the minimalist design of the blog. I am a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology in NY and I blog too. I am an apple fan and love technology, music and movies. Good job on the blog Paul and Happy new year to everyone.
Well I’ve been reading your blog for probably close to two years now, not really sure though. I love all the reviews of stuff I never even knew I’d want! The early how-to’s were also what got me started reading your blog.
I reside on Lake Michigan in the small town of Muskegon, Mi. I’m pretty big into photography, and I own a photobooth rental company called The Photobooth Company (original right?)
I do not have a dog, but if I did, I’d try to teach him how to shovel my driveway and do dishes.
Hi Paul, I only discovered your blog a few months ago and have been a continuous reader. I love your wording and your ability to make any topic interesting. My name is Jayden I am an 18 year old male living in Sydney!
Hi,
Martin from Spain here. Found your website through Twitter and/or DaringFireball. Liked what I saw and here I am. Happy new year’s eve. :)
I read your blog. I like the new random button as well. Happy New Year!
Hi, Paul.
I’ve been subscribed to your feed since the fall of ‘06 and have learned a lot from your posts. I am a retired 66 year old former tech support agent for BellSouth’s Fast Access Internet Service living in Knoxville, TN, so I am not your typical young geek, but I have a youthful fascination with technology.
Like many others, I enjoy your reviews of various things, your comments about the Mac (though I am a PC guy), and I also enjoy following your career at Ga Tech, since I attended a year there back in 1960 in the days of slide rules and rat hats. I have two distinctions from my year at Tech. I made an A in the so-called “drown proofing” PE swimming course and an F+ in a Chemistry course. That F+ always baffled me. What good did the + do me? Anyway after my year there, I realized that I was more a liberal arts type student, so I transferred to and graduated in 1963 from Mercer University in Macon.
I think you have a bright future ahead of you and I wish you the best.
I am, like Adim, a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology studying computer science. I have been reading your blog since about March of last year. I love Apple as well. Reading your blog inspired me to blog more actively on my own site. I also purchased a pro account on flickr based on your recommendation. Keep up the good work with reviews and all your posts.
Happy New Year to Paul and all the other readers!
Hey Paul, I found your blog and I started out just wanting to copy your theme for my blog but eventually I started reading the posts and kinda started like those as well. :)
Hey Paul,
Love your blog.
Great, well thought-out posts and reviews.
Keep up the great work in 2008!
Andrew
Hi,
I am 23, from Greece, and I am a computer science student at the University of London. Happy new year!
I’ve been reading your site since finding it a couple of months ago as the result of searching for minimalist Wordpress themes. I like the look and feel of your site, and have enjoyed following it and your twitters since then. I’d love to see more how-tos in the coming year.
Hi Paul,
I am a 14 year old self proclaimed designed student residing in the golden bear state. Have a great New Year Paul!
Hi paul,
I’m a 16-year-old currently living in Hemel Hempstead, a town just north of London. I am interested in poetry, art, philosophy, computers, internet, photography & film. I am currently studying photography at college and hope to become a professional one day.
I found your blog from the blog of the company that designed your logo. I instantly subscribed, and have been an addict ever since.
I hope you keep up the good work in 2008.
Thanks, Elliot.
P.S. - I love the new random post button, it’s amazing.
Hey Paul, I’m currently a senior in high school in Houston and I actually just finished applying to colleges.
I’ve been reading your site for a few months now although I ran into it a couple of times prior to that when I was searching for other tech commentary. I really enjoy the reviews and other comments. I may actually start commenting now that it is a new year.
I’m Jenn. I’ve been reading since sometime in mid-2006, but I’m not too frequent of a commenter. I’m a junior at Cornell University studying Information Science and I’m a bona fide web geek.
My favorite part of this blog is the reviews and how-tos of things that are less hardware-centric. While your gadget reviews have been cool lately, they’ve been about such obscure things - I don’t plan to buy a $300 laser anytime soon! ;). I’d really like to hear more about what you plan to do after college and stuff - like you mentioned in your resolutions post. I like a lot of the suggestions in your Skribit widget.
My dog doesn’t have any interesting tricks, but he can sniff out a tiny morsel of food from miles away. ;)
Have a great new year!
Hello,
I have been reading this blog for almost a year now, and have been enjoying it very much. I am a high school student living near Atlanta, and Georgia Tech is my first-choice college. Paul, thanks for offering some insight into the school within your posts.
Hi Paul,
I’ve been reading your blog for about six months now and love to see your viewpoint on technology, Apple, and just life as a student in this tech-heavy age.
I own a design firm in Nashville, Tennessee and I really can’t wait to read about your transition from student to the private/business sector. Good luck to you this year!
Stan Hansen , Idea Thunderdomer , makes it his new years resolution to blog more new innovative business ideas to his blog.
I’m a student at the University of Pittsburgh.
I’m studying Computer Science.
I’m particularly interested in website design.
I’m looking forward to technical articles in 2008.
hi all,
i’ll like to see some more technology that help us, making our lives better e more pleasurable. my major interest is in intelligent vehicle, mostly aids for elder and deficient drivers. including design and IHC.
all the luck for you in 2008 from brazil - sao paulo
Sup sexy!
Been reading this blog since the dawn of time.. or something rather. It a great read and I love seeing it grow and evolve. As we say in the hood, you gots skillz.
Happy New Year buddy. See ya in 2008.
Hi Paul,
I have been reading faithfully since the middle of this year, but I have read your blog unfaithfully for over a year.
My name is Chris Goodrich, I am from Southern California. I am a full-time student at Chapman University in Orange, CA majoring in Business Administration with emphases in Entrepreneurship and Finance. I enjoy everything relating to technology, especially technology related business. I enjoy learning and read regularly on topics relating to economics, finance, and technology.
I also work for Clear Channel Radio in Riverside, CA as Online Sales & Content Director where I built and manage the online content and advertising department. The department is responsible for managing 6 radio stations’ online presence from design to content to advertising.
I am in the process of starting up my own small business technology consulting company to help small companies in my area deal with the learning curve of technology infrastructures.
I love every topic you blog on Paul, so however you decide which topics to write on continue with that process.
This is a little about me. I hope to continue reading your wonderful blog in 2008!
Hi Paul,
I’m a self employed programmer/consultant living in the Los Angeles area. I enjoy all things tech, gaming, computing.
Keep up the good work
Heya Paul,
Discovered your blog a few months back, and I’m really glad I did — top-notch content and great design. In fact, your design has inspired parts of my redesign (http://www.raviudeshi.com).
Umm, what else? Like you, I’m a tech-interested college student, but I’m planning a career in the legal field rather than in Silicon Valley…who knows, maybe I’ll be able to do both!
Anyhow, here’s to hoping you have another great year!
-Ravi
Dear Paul, I am an IT auditor/consultant at one of the big four auditors and I read your blog because I like technology and gadget news. You talk about a lot of things that I’m also interested in. Plus, I think you’re nice. Yours truly, Devin.
Been reading for a while. Must have posted at least once before, because the information correctly auto-completed when I opened the page from NewsFire. I’m elliottcable (obviously enough), from anchorage, alaska (yay, exotic homes). My dog doesn’t do too many funny things except sleep… but I do have 8789×1596 pixels (or so) of screen real-estate on my desk d-:
Hey Paul, I live in the UK and I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now; haven’t posted too many comments but I’ll try do do more.
Looking forward to next year and hopefully it will see great advancements in everything - for the better.
-Jonathan
Let us know what you do, where you’re from, what you’re interested in, what you want to see on this blog in 2008, talk about that funny thing your dog does or whatever
Great idea. Interesting folks reading your blog. I’ve been following your blog for over a year now. great product reviews pulled me in as a reader. I’d like to see you talk more about php vs rails and some of your tips and tricks. I enjoyed your post on sprites some time back. Anyhow, i’m in nashville. Happy New Year!
I’m Marty, a 21 year old from Winnipeg, Canada. Been reading this blog since late November ever since getting my first Mac. My school plans are being out weighed by my less-then-full bank account however I’d love to go to Georgia Tech. I’m a Falcons fan through and through, planning on a trip to ATL late next year.
Keep up the good work, your site is one of the main five I visit daily.
Paul, I can’t remember exactly when I discovered your blog - last summer, I think — when I was trying to learn something tech-ish and google apparently turned you up. I suscribed because that way I knew I’d keep up with a tiny bit of a whole different world than I generally inhabit!
I write romance novels for a living, also do genealogical software reviews, spend my time between Iowa (the school year) and Montana (the rest of the time) and have long since given up trying to teach my dogs anything. Maybe next year!
Hi; I’ve been lurking for a few months. I’m in California, just uphill from Stanford in Portola Valley. I’m an entrepreneur CTO-type with 3 successful startups under my belt, and working on a 4th. Your RSS feed is one of my tools for helping me understand how people ~10 years younger than me are using and thinking about the internets.
Throwing a small party at the house, hope you don’t mind. 2008 here we come!
Happy Holidays! =)
I guess I came here for the first time one and half year ago because a ground on flickr. A member has a blog who link to you and etc, etc. I liked the tech review, actually apple’s product.
I’m Clinical Pharmacist and cook, but I love tech and have two blogs: 1) about random stuff and 2) about food. I live in Brazil.
Hey Paul,
I’m Kyle….live in houston…industrial design major at UH…not sure how i found the site…im sure by link from some other tech blog…not sure how long i’ve been reading either…i’d say just over six months or so…
even though i’m a design major, i am very much in to web development as well…i’ve been reading books for the past year or so and teaching myself different languages, and seriously want to do something with it…so i like your posts on such things, but really, i like just reading what you have to say about anything…i like the way things have been going…
i also follow you on flickr… i go by
lM_ll_lL_lL_S
not sure if you’re still in town, but we should meet up some time and talk tech, or whetever…
anyway, like the site, keep it up…and happy new year..
-Kyle
I’ve been a reader of PaulStamatiou since late 2006 and read every post since then via RSS. I like the topics covered in this blog and learn from many of your posts.
I’m from KC, Missouri; I work as a Controller and Tech Manager of a small company and on the side I blog for GeekTonic and ZatzNotFunny.
I just found you and your blog via Twitter and have been reading through some articles the past 2 hours, i’ll definately come back and subscribe to the feed.
Hey Paul,
I’m Bill, 22, Orlando. Good friends with Eston - I think you may know him ;) - we went to college together and shared a few classes. I work for Orlando’s paper down here, the Orlando Sentinel, creating interactive information graphics and narratives in Flash, and am helping the paper with other quote-on-quote new media things.
I subscribed to your site fully this year, but I’d come across a number of your entries from various links prior. Sometime, in February I was browsing your site and saw you were using Twitter - and recalled seeing it on del.icio.us the November before, but didn’t give it much thought - so I decided to join. Now, I’m addict - can stop, and I follow/enjoy your updates as well. Interesting to get insight from a fellow tech/college student.
Also, cool to here updates from someone in Atlanta - I have relatives there and a coworker of mine recently moved there. Unlikely any of those things are connected, but interesting nevertheless.
I’m enjoying your posts - definitely keep them up.
I am Eric from Charlotte, NC I have come across your blog about 6 months ago, I own a blog (www.zoobos.com). I am a lot into gadgets ( apple, blackberry, digital photography etc.).
Happy New year for all of you.
Eric
I’m an apple-obsessed photography/multimedia student. I enjoy running, video, tech, design, and traveling.
Happy New Year, Paul!
You can blame Shawn for me subscribing.
Hey Paul,
I don’t remember how I found your blog on Bloglines, but I did this year mid autumn.
I’m a middle-aged family man that enjoys Harleys in the summer and Macs in the winter…ice fishing too, but you don’t seem to test that latest in ice fishing gear.
Working in a Minnesota power plant, I’ve found some of your noncomputer related reviews interesting as well for implementation on the job.
Keep up the fun, I enjoy your work.
Nick
Hi Paul,
I started reading after doing some Google research on Media Temple. I’ve been sitting happily on a (dv) package since August and keeping tabs on pstam.com via XML. I try to comment whenever there’s something I can add. So who am I?
I’m a junior at Penn State studying Information Sciences and Technology, which is not as intense as CmpSci and more technical than MIS. This semester I’m studying in Sydney, Australia at the University of New South Wales and I’m really excited for that.
I interned for AccuWeather as a web developer and General Electric as an IMLP. I design and develop for the web as a hobby and to fund a passion for gadgets (Canon 40D + tons of gear). I’d like to dedicate more time to it since I’ve lapsed somewhat over the last year with other responsibilities. “But I force a smile knowing my ambition far exceeded my talent.”
Brendan Falkowski? Present.
I’ve been a fan of the blog for a while now. Not only the blog, but the comments from the other readers.
I’m writing from exciting Wichita, KS where I daytime as a computer network engineer and moonlight as just about everything else from entrepreneur to aspiring SF writer, with father, husband and chicken farmer thrown in (ok, so there’s only 2 chickens..long story)
In tech years, I’m pretty old. What most nowadays call web 2.0 I call 3.0. (UseNet 1.0, WWW 2.0, and I’m sure there are older that would say 4 or 5.) I’m pretty impressed at where technology has come since I started getting into it. I remember upgrading my ZX81 from 1k to 2k, because 16k would be insane! I’m still waiting for my flying car, though….
hi Paul,
i’m Hizkia, 16 years old student from Indonesia…
i’m a fan of u’r blog and i love u’r column about “A Realistic Back To School Guide” it was very useful to me..
looking forward for u’r blog in 2008..
Happy New Year…
Hizkia
Hi Paul!
I've been reading your blog for about a year and love your content.
I am a high school freshmen, blogger”, developer, and loyal reader. In 2008, I'd love to see you talk more about start-ups and what your plans are in the future.
Thanks!
What’s up, I’m from Annapolis, MD and I go to school at Mass Maritime in Buzzards Bay, MA. I’m going to be starting out 2008 by going to sea for two months on a training cruise. This year we’re going to Panama, Costa Rica, and Aruba. I’ve started a blog for this trip, which you can find at http://seaterm.christiaanconover.com.
I’m a frequent reader of this blog, after discovering it through an article elsewhere about the blogging scholarship. I’m just trying to get my own blog going, and hopefully I can some day reach the level of readership that this blog has.
Happy new year to everyone, hope you all have an awesome 2008!
Hi Paul,
I’m a high school freshman from California and I discovered your blog sometime during early 2007. I really enjoy your posts and I’d like to pursue a career in journalism or blogging because I enjoy writing. As for 2008, I’d like more of the same thing from ‘07. Have a safe and happy new year!
Hi Paul and Happy New Year!
I’m a french student in CS and Business and I’m coming in few days in San Francisco for an internship in a start-up. I’m a Mac fan like a lot of people here, and I particularly like you product and services reviews.
Keep doing this amazing blog!
Am a fellow blogger - but at the other end of the age range to you and over in Spain, where it can get mighty lonely for us Mac users.
Have read your site since way back when, and am watching your developement with a combination of admiration and envy!
hi!
I am Cheryl, from Australia. i found your blog a year or 2 ago from Theory.isthereason.com. I am a gamer for the most part, or was, and also a student, majoring in politics even though i hate it.
Currently, i also moonlight as a waitress until i am done with school i guess, but i still game just not as much and as crazy as i use to (24 hours lan!). I am a fan of the Mac, but with not too much dough on me to spend on that love. and uhm, i pretty much like whatever you write, so i won’t comment too much on what i hope to see :)
happy new year’s!
I’ve been commenting since the first ‘Lurker Roll Call’, and reading since November 2006. Congratulations on another stellar year of blogging! It was your continued praise of OSX that forced me to part with my hard earned cash and buy a mac- so thank-you for that. As for me, I intend to continue forging a career in UK Broadcasting, taking blogging a bit more seriously and actually achieve readership in double figures, and getting married… only two of those seem achievable from my drunken state at the moment.
Like the new ‘?random’ function by the way. Happy New year.
November 2005… sigh, why has Wordpress still not got an edit comment function built in natively?
Paul,
I found you in november 2007, really like the blog, enjoy reading it, and would like to hopefully create a successful project like yours in 2008. if you go to my site you can tell i used your header guide lol. and your twitter bar post.
Thanks a lot for giving beginning bloggers something to look forward to.

Megan here. I’m a teacher in the north-metro Atlanta area. I found your blog around September. No interesting dog stories, however I do use some of your posts in teaching. My systems administration students are the geekiest I’ve got, so I frequently share your reviews with those kids (in grades 10-12). Sharing news is built into our class because we all read RSS newsfeeds.
Paul, I always enjoy your articles. I think you should take your site’s design to the next level. My favorite parts of your recent redesign is the about box in the upper right and the footer menu. Feel free to bash my site’s design, and take this as constructive criticism:
While you’ve added more features to the site, it feels sloppier that it used to. I think you could help things just by widening it up a bit. Consider using some CSS to make your site widen when viewed on monitors with >1024 horizontal resolution. You have to scroll a lot on your site at times. The only problem I can see is your nice 500px photos won’t fill the larger body area and that clean look could be lost.
@Andrew Swihart - I agree completely. I don’t feel my site is as clean as it can be. I have even considered getting professional help but that would break the whole “my site is 100% me” thing I have going for it. As I try to get that more professional look and highlight good posts, my site will have to change a bit. I also think the attempt at advertising added some clutter, but we’ll see where that pans out.
Hey Paul, I’m a lurker that rarely comments, but I’m a fan of your content.
Hey, I am from Hyattsville, Maryland. I must have been looking for something
Mac related when I found your blog. You really have your stuff together. Keep up the good work. I wish you the best of luck on all your future endeavors. Have a great year!
Hi Paul,
Happy New Year to all the company here!
You doing great work in your blog. Keep in your mind that the details in a post is the power!
I live in Thessaloniki, Greece and i am IT Consultant. I have also a blog ( oktabitos.wordpress.com ) and i will upgrade it soon in a special domain.
Keep blogging…
Kali sinexeia file Paul ;)
I’m zzaop, from Australia! Keep posting the same stuff you currently do. I love your blog. :P
Hello, I’m Eng Lee, a programmer from Malaysia.
Keep up the good work!
I live and work in Atlanta, write a few blogs (one about Macs and one personal), and also run a small multisport event production company. I’ve been reading the blog for about 6 months but bookmarked a page on your site sometime in 2006. Eventually I found my way back to your site and subscribed. Best of luck in 2008 Paul.
What happens if I don’t have a dog? I do have cats, but they don’t really do anything special.
Now I feel much shame.
Anywho, I’ve been stopping by on a regular basis but very rarely comment (I think I’ve dropped two lines in two years since I found “Deviance”).
I live in Washington, DC and work for an Intellectual Property company. I’ve been subscribed to your blog for a couple of years now. I recently bought my first Mac (also my first laptop), a 15″ 2.2 MacBook Pro, and I love it. So I always enjoy your Mac related content.
Another Australian here. Self employed - sell products online through a site I built on osCommerce and Wordpress.
Been reading since the Azureus howto series, subscribed since then. Became a mac user 18 months ago, so gained more interest in keeping up with your stuff, and now read almost every post, except the ones about US products/services such as tivo and netflix.
I enjoy your perspective on utilizing new services such as Amazon S3. Would like to see more of the old style ‘hack’ posts. keep up the great work.
I’m Isaak from Singapore. Am working as a librarian in the public library. But have always been a closeted geek. :)
Anyway, this has been a wonderful blog. I love the Mac-related posts as I’m a Mac fanboy. But I also look forward to the Web-related ones that you post every now and then.
Keep up the good work!
Paul, I think you’re doing well with the design yourself, but you can step it up a notch still I think. This is funny, this “web development expert” has a blog that looks very similar to your earlier design. http://www.basilgloo.com/blog/ Is it a coincidence, did he copy it, or is it a WP template?

Hi Paul; I’ve been reading your blog a little after you started it back in summer of ‘05 (though I can’t really remember what brought me here). Never posted though! I’m a senior in college. Keep up the great work!
I’m Adam. I’m 26, and I live in the Bay Area. I’m a student at SJSU, studying graphic design. I think I came across pstam.com from a link on Digg back in May of ‘06 (Mac Mini processor upgrade), and anything Apple related is my hobby. I spend quite a bit of time on 123macmini.com, twitter, and I’m an avid Top Gear fan.
I love the mix of technology that you present on your blog, Paul. The reviews are helpful, and well written. I’ve also enjoyed the view on college life, as I’m in the middle of that too.
Hey everyone - I am a PhD student in Pasadena in intercultural studies, married and we just had our first child, a little girl. I’ve been reading Paul’s blog for a couple years now and continue to love it. Even though I blog about culture and theology I aspire to be a blogger like Paul in that I think he’s got consistently good content and keeps things interesting on his site. Paul, I’d like to see more mac stuff and more hidden web gems, sites and communities the rest of us know little about but you seem to keep on top of. Keep up the great work and happy new year.
@Paul - I guess the answer to my multiple choice question was “yes”.

Keep at it.

UX Designer lurking your site via Bloglines from the Missouri Ozarks. Love the site!
Hi — I’m Josh. I have a cat, and she blogs about me. Though I spend most of my time transcribing the novella my cat is dictating, I am also a producer & strategist at a digital think tank in NYC.
I became a reader after I stumbled across one of your reviews. I wanted to keep tabs on all the other shenanigans (can I say that here?) that would ensue.
Happy New Year.
I’m Rafael. I work in tech sales. I don’t have a dog. I’ve been reading you for about 7 months now. You’re a solid writer man; dig the reviews and guides.
For ‘08? Keep on keeping on.
Still here mate but don’t often comment these days - work’s taken over a lot of blog reading time.
So… I’m Joel, an Aussie and an Engineer working in Australia’s electricity distribution industry (at the moment). Tomorrow though? Who knows :)
I’m Alagu, and I read your blog regularly through feeds. I work at Yahoo! Bangalore. And I would love to see more blogs from you about Mac,Apple and iPhone 2.0
Well I’m pretty late on this but here it goes anyway.
My name is Dave and I’m a second-year undergrad student in Ontario, Canada. I found this blog via Amber Macarthur, who, for those that don’t know, is something of a tech-celeb here in Canada. That was a while ago, probably around a year and a half. I myself am a blogger, but not in a really serious way. My readership consists of a few friends and family at its core. One day I might get into it more seriously.
I’m really interested in all things tech, especially web and media-related things. I’m currently majoring in English, a program whose content is a far-cry from the stuff I love reading about online. However, I think it’s the best general base for the multiple areas/careers I may pursue in the future. I’m interested in teaching technology/media related subjects, as well as journalism that specializes in these areas. As much as I like to consider myself computer/internet-savvy, it’s not uncommon for some of Paul’s posts to go way over my head, but I’m learning more all the time.
Paul, your blog is great, and your writing is excellent at doing the job its meant to do. (Conveying a lot of complex information concisely and clearly.) Also, the things you’ve done/are doing, plus the extent to which you’re smartly planning for your future are inspiring to me. Keep up the great work and all the best in this new year.
Cheers,
Dave
CS / Math major at SPSU, found your site while browsing news.yc, been checking it since. I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the startup climate in Atlanta.
A little late, but what the hell.
I’m 17 (almost 18) years old. I host and produce the podcast Nerd News Radio, which I created in July 2005. ON October 29th, I led a session at PodCamp Boston 2 on Teen Podcasting. The session turned into a discussion on education, technology, teenagers, and new media.
Podcasting and Blogging has made me a more politically aware person. In addition, my writing has improved, and I have become a more confident public speaker.
At my high school, I am attempting to create a technology program for students and teachers (led by students). It will include a IT Strategy Team, a series of student-led courses, partnerships, and special initiatives.
I love your blog here, Paul. I don’t know what else to say. It’s been useful in so many different ways.
Better late than never.
I’m a CG artist working in Tokyo, Japan and I found your blog while looking for resources when I was setting up my blog. Your Wordpress and tech tips have been extremely useful.
Thanks a lot and happy new year. :]
Great site! I stumbled here after searching for information on Leopard in October 2007, and I just keep coming back to read the latest news and reviews.
I got my first Mac when the original turquoise iMacs came out, thanks to using Macs at work (teacher). Since then, I’ve also had and sold the iMac “Snow”, and now have a 6 month old iMac intel 24″ running Leopard. It’s the best so far. I also have a 4 year old iBook G4 14″, which I carry back and forth to work. I’m not sure it will handle Leopard, but I may try it. I use Wacom Graphire tablets/pens with both, originally because I always wanted to go into commercial art, but didn’t, so art is a lifetime hobby. I love the pen/tablet for everything, though. No more mouse! No more batteries! No more hand cramps! I have an iPod video, and thanks to reviews here, now have a Nano with the Nike sensor.
I’m a “baby-boomer”, married to a PC guy (yes, they really exist, and opposites really do attract). No kids, except everyone else’s! My siamese cat walks across my keyboard, and my two beagles dislike the bright light of my new iMac’s wide screen. They do like celtic music on iTunes and the lightning bug screen saver with the cricket sounds, though!
Hey what’s up. Paul, your site is awesome and I love your style. The best thing I like about this blog is that you post about yourself and not just the latest news which you can find on engadget. It’s great to see real, authentic and truthful posts for once. Your reviews have helped me a lot. Keep up the awesome work.
Hey there, I’m from south Brazil… I’m following your blog since 2005, you have made great progress till now. I’m a Electric Engineering Studant at University Of Santa Catarina, and love webdev + design, and I work with that as a freelancer while at the uni. Keep the good work paul!
Very nice blog! I've been reading PaulStamatiou.com ever since it was first posted on the <a href="http://www.cc.gatech.edu/education/students/blogs">CoC</a> Student Blogs page. (I guess it's good for something, eh?) Anyways, I'm a fellow Georgia Tech student,
