In The Lab: AE Xenide HID Flashlight
Hot on the heels of my review of Wicked Lasers’ Elite Series 150+ green laser comes the AE Xenide flashlight. The Xenide utilizes a High Intensity Discharge system similar to the HID/Xenon headlights found in newer cars. This is no pedestrian flashlight by any means. I’ll be writing a full review with many pictures (as usual) when I clear out some time with final exams and everything, but here are some photos.
The particular demo unit I have on hand is the 20 Watt Xenide flashlight, which is a mid-range offering compared to their other 15 and 25 Watt Xenide models. It’s extremely rugged and bright. While I don’t recommend doing so, I was able to light up a building in downtown at least a 1/4 mile away. I can also imagine the Xenide would come in handy whilst chasing Sasquatch through the forest at night.
This just might be the thing to get that geek that has everything this holiday season.
Looks like something you would put on a M4 RIS. I was huge into Airsoft at one point, so a flashlight like that should be used when rounding corners and blinding people in the face… just right before depressing the trigger! :)
Eh, it’s a little too big to strap to an airsoft gun. About a foot long, but it’s not heavy.
How much $ will it set you back?
This model is ~$395, the stronger 25W model is ~$435.
I want some pictures of your lab, sounds hi-tech.

Ya this looks a tad big to fit on an airsoft, but maybe with some mods in Paul’s high-tech lab. :-)
Is it waterproof?

That looks amazing, but the price point would hurt my wallet too much. Still looking forward to the review.
