155mW. 532nm. $699. Green. All of those can be used to describe the newest addition to Wicked Lasers’ product lineup, the Elite Series. As you might imagine, Wicked Lasers specializes in powerful and expensive exotic lasers. I wouldn’t call them laser pointers as they are much more powerful than your typical [click to continue…]

Based on this Google Experimental Search page, it seems as though Google is testing out a prospective feature for search results – voting. The SERPs show an “up” icon and an “X” icon. If a search result is completely irrelevant for what you were searching for, clicking the [click to continue…]

November 27, 2007 · 52 comments

I’m staying with a cousin in New York for a few days and have been able to experience Verizon’s FiOS internet service for the first time. FiOS is the first commercial offering of FTTH (Fiber To The Home), although availability is still very limited. Verizon has several different packages ranging from [click to continue…]

What is Skribit?

November 23, 2007 · 40 comments

I haven’t really talked about Skribit in any depth yet, so this shall be my Skribit 101 post. Skribit is a web application sprouting from my idea along with many talented co-founders at Startup Weekend Atlanta. First off, I’ll tell you what it isn’t. Skribit is not some blog commenting system as others have believed it to be. [click to continue…]

I’ve been at the airport and on a flight home for the most of the day and missed most of the Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta buzz. Now that I’ve had a chance to glance over it, I must say I’m optimistic about where Firefox is going. Firefox 3 seems to be addressing the user experience more than anything else. There’s [click to continue…]

Thoughts on Leopard

November 17, 2007

I’ve been using Mac OS X Leopard for a few weeks now and have started to form my thoughts about it. For the first few days, I really didn’t think Leopard was all that different than Tiger. Yeah, it had little things here and there, but none of them changed the way I interacted with [...]

Privacy Implications of RFID Tags

November 16, 2007

Two weeks ago I mentioned I was writing a term paper on privacy issues that exist with the growing use of Radio Frequency Identification systems and tags. I ended up receiving an A on the paper so I figured I would share it with everyone. It explores both sides of the RFID issue – convenience [...]

Peter Rojas, the guy that co-founded Engadget, launched his latest venture today. RCRD LBL, which translates to Record Label in non-Web 2.0 vernacular, is a blog meets social network for music lovers. Well, it doesn’t exactly appear to be pushing as a social network but you can register for an account and post a

Why Being an Early Adopter Sucks, Dell Edition

November 13, 2007

Over the summer I invested in a 30-inch Dell LCD to complement my primary and only computer, my MacBook Pro, with money from having sold a little web app. While I wasn’t a true early adopter as the 3007WFP had been out for about a year at the time, my version didn’t really have any [...]

Review: Eye-Fi Wireless 2GB SD Card

November 7, 2007

It’s not often that an SD memory card comes out and creates a ton of fanfare. When that SD card has integrated Wi-Fi abilities to immediately upload your photos, then you start to understand why all the buzz is justified. I am of course referring to Eye-Fi’s long awaited wireless SD card. Amazingly, they were [...]

In The Pipeline

November 3, 2007

Just a 411 – this weekend, the upcoming week and next weekend will be rather hectic for me as I write my term paper on RFID tag privacy, prepare a presentation on it, code a prototype for a redesign of a student portal for HCI class, complete other computer science homework and if I’m still [...]

Review: Replug

November 1, 2007

Remember when Apple first unleashed the MacBook Pros, the first Intel Macs, back in January of 2006? I do, and the one feature of the new MBPs that made me go “aww, that’s cool” had to be the MagSafe system. No more tripping on cords and
