MyMint Blog Goes Live, Interviews Me

Mar 06, 2007 in ,

An upcoming web application called MyMint aims to help you save money by analyzing your spending habits. While I can’t say too much about MyMint at the moment, I do know that it is a comprehensive personal finance tool geared towards college students, young professionals or just anyone who wants to improve their finances. MyMint analyzes your finances and shows you exact ways you can save money.

MyMint Blog

Getting to the point, MyMint launched their blog today. It’s not your typical corporate blog; you can expect to find posts about saving money in college and interviews with influential people - not just press releases.

MyMint is the work of a bang-up startup in San Francisco comprised of notable people formerly of companies from the likes of Facebook, PayPal, PGP and universities like Berkeley and Princeton. Long story short, they’re definitely on to something and going somewhere with it. Noah Kagan, one of MyMint’s employees, mentioned a few MyMint features in this video of him speaking at Berkeley.

I’ve already received a few emails from people asking me for beta invites to MyMint. Just as an FYI, I don’t have any. When/if I do receive any, you can be sure I’ll blog about it. You can also expect an exclusive MyMint review when they wrap up development “soon” as I’ve been told.

Disclosure: I know Noah and he owes me an In-N-Out burger or two the next time I’m in California.

  1. im a college dropout airman :)

I cant wait!!! I wanna try it

  2. This will save me money by “analyzing my spending habits”? I think “not buying expensive crap I don’t need”, and “get a job closer to home to save on petrol” will save me money, not graphs and highlighted areas of possible “saving improvement”.

  3. I talked for a bit with Noah. Seems like a cool guy. Maybe I should move out there and work with them — sounds fun. :) He pointed me to your blog, btw.

  4. I don’t understand. Everything about MyMint makes it seem like it’s made by you! (including the “Paul is Rich” quote, I guess this was just a joke)

Since its origins as a link to nowhere on your sidebar, to today with two articles by / about YOU, is this YOUR application or are you just best buddies with whoever is making it?

  5. “is this YOUR application or are you just best buddies with whoever is making it?”

The way every review on this site is always gushing, and the coincidental timing of advertising purchases and blog post coverage should have suggested to you long ago that Paul isn’t that interested in impartiality.

  6. Hehe, Paul is “influential” and humble. ;)

I think anyone visiting the site will notice that MyMint is under the sponsor section. Unfortunately that’s not documented in this post.

  7. Looks great! I really should keep track of my spending better. I buy way too many 8-12 dollar meals… I should also liquidate some of my electronics I don’t need… haha.

  8. “Unfortunately that’s not documented in this post.” ah yes, forgot about the RSS readers.

Anyways, this is not my web app and this is not some type of blogspam. I truly think MyMint is cool and would have blogged about it if I didn’t know Noah. As a college student my finances are all over the place and that’s sparked my interest in this web app.

  9. Thanks for the shot out Paul.

Paul wrote about us and yes we sponsor. Nothing hidden. Paul knows a lot of confidential things prior to the product launching and is helping us make the product better. He was amped on the idea of from the start and so are we. Okay, enough comment back to finishing the product.

Disclaimer: I am dating Paul;) JK.

  10. Definitely looks interesting. Signed up when you first put up the banner on the left.

  11. I also signed up when the button appeared on the left. I can’t wait for this to go live!
