Feb 26, 2007 in , ,

Roughly two weeks ago, I began asking for recommendations for a VESA-compatible iMac arm. Then, I had ghetto modded the Apple VESA adapter to my iMac since the VESA arm had not yet arrived. I ended up purchasing the iLift by Innovative and it just arrived today. Continue Reading »

For those of you that decided, like me, a long nap was a better way to spend 6 hours rather than watching the Oscars, you’ve missed out on the first Apple iPhone commercial. Fortunately, Dan at UNEASYsilence was able to find an HD version of the commercial for your consumption. The ad is rather simple and goes through dozens of movie clips where Continue Reading »

Review: Belkin Cable-Free USB Hub (7)

Feb 22, 2007 in ,

It was more than a year ago that I first mentioned the terms Wireless USB and Ultra-wideband, in regards to a wireless USB hub from Belkin. The wait is over and Belkin has officially released their 4-port wireless USB hub, dubbed Cable-Free. Belkin just sent me a unit to review, so let me tell you all about it. Continue Reading »

Apple Building an Ultra-Portable After All (9)

Feb 21, 2007 in , , ,

AppleInsider talked to people familiar with a project at Apple to produce a smaller MacBook. It will most likely not include an optical drive but will feature onboard NAND flash for zippy boot times. No word yet on what it will look like; it would be great if it had the casing of a MacBook Pro. I do believe this is the 12-inch beauty we’ve all been waiting for.. so long as it doesn’t randomly shutdown. Continue Reading »

Note: You are about to read a “ghetto mod”. Ghetto mods do not come with any guarantee other than some amusement.

The VESA adapter I ordered for my iMac arrived today however the VESA arm had not and probably won’t for a while. What’s a techie to do? Here’s what I did. Continue Reading »

Recommendations for a VESA Arm? (19)

Feb 13, 2007 in ,

I’m in the market for a VESA arm for my iMac. Being the massive 24-incher that it is and my desk being several inches taller than I’d like, looking straight on I’m gazing at the middle of the screen. For comparison, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration states that the top of your monitor should be at or below eye level. But then again, they have a picture of a small CRT on their site Continue Reading »

My Top 5 Tech Mistakes (29)

Feb 11, 2007 in , , ,

Technology is great, that is when it doesn’t waste your money or time. Unfortunately, I have dealt with more than my fair share of worthless technology and gadgets. Overly advertised and hyped-up products that don’t exactly deliver make for a tasty tech blunder. Continue Reading »

Just wanted to get this notice in my feed before it happens. Thanks. In the meantime check out browsersize.com - great resource for web developers.

How To Quickie: Vista Permissions (29)

Feb 09, 2007 in , ,

If you’ve ever tried to tinker with something in Vista and received a “you need permission to perform this action” warning, you know how frustrating it can be. Vista’s new found “security” locks down a lot of things even if your user account has administrative privileges. I ran into a problem like this when Continue Reading »

A new service by the name of LinkedCampus is hoping to solve the modern problem of ineffective communication amongst campus dwellers. Intype - Powerful Text Editor for Windows (57)

Feb 04, 2007 in , ,

Thanks to a comment from Jim Karagiannis, I recently discovered Intype. Intype will be pretty much as close as you can get to TextMate’s perfection on Windows. I say “will be” because Intype is only in the early stage of development, but I can already tell it’s headed in the right direction. Those familiar with TextMate Continue Reading »

How To: Stadium Seating for Superbowl Sunday (20)

Feb 04, 2007 in , ,

Over the last month my roommates and I have been planning on building some means for having stadium seating in our living room. The living room isn’t too spacious and only had enough room for two futons. So, just in time for Superbowl Sunday, Chris and I have created a cheap deck for stadium seating. All it required was plywood, 4×4 & 2×4 wood, a box of wood screws and Continue Reading »

How To: Get on Digg If Your Domain Is Banned (27)

Feb 03, 2007 in , ,

Back in December, there was considerable noise in the blogosphere surrounding the growing list of domains banned by Digg. As you all probably know by now my domain is on that list and has been for something like a year now. Digg’s efforts to hinder “gaming the system” have proved rather effective, leaving Continue Reading »

Vista Exploit Can Delete Your Files (13)

Feb 01, 2007 in , ,

From the Steve-Jobs-is-having-a-field-day-with-this department, Microsoft has confirmed a hole in Windows Vista’s speech recognition capability that allows a malicious site or email attachment to delete files remotely. But I would actually classify this hole as nothing to be concerned about. For your Vista PC to be in any danger you must have speech recognition activated, along Continue Reading »
