Shaun Releases Mint 2.0

Jan 28, 2007 in , , ,

Shaun Inman has released the next version of Mint, the ever popular web stats tracking software. I’ve been using it since 2005 and this is the first substantial upgrade. If you purchased Mint before January 1st, 2007 it’ll cost you $19 to upgrade but it’s worth it. I just upgraded tonight. Check out this page to see what’s new in version 2.0.

Update: Newsvine CEO and avid Minter Mike Davidson has posted some CSS to bring back the Mintyness to Mint.

  1. I’m not liking your visits today. A little creepy.

You should point out that ALL peppers for 1.x work in 2.x. They’ll need a little bit of updating to look better in 2.x, but as far as functionality, it’s there.

  2. Paul, way to be on top of things. I’m not sure exactly when Shaun launched the site, but I didn’t expect it until early tomorrow this morning. I don’t know what possessed me to check the site on my phone one last time before going to bed, but it means I’ll be up an extra hour while I install and play around with v2 a bit.

  3. Hmm, there goes my $30 down the drain. $20 to upgrade when I bought it a month ago is insanity.

  4. It looks great. I can’t wait to upgrade.. And I’m rather happy I only bought it this month. :)

  5. Don: you bought a great piece of software which you can still use for $30 a month ago, you’re now even getting a discount on an even better piece of software, so I don’t see a reason for complaints, although I DO understand that you would have perhaps liked to know and had held your breath for a while ;)

  6. I had a look through the example installation for the designlogue and personally I just was not feeling the color scheme. There are definitely some nice additions functionality wise, but I’m pretty happy with my 1.x installation till something really big comes out.

    Digging the haveamint.com / shauninman.com redesigns though

  7. This thing costs more than I pay for my year’s Flickr Pro account, more than 6 months of web hosting, and more than other things that cost $25.

It is impressive and probably has some actually increased usefulness for many people, but for me this program is more of a toy than something I really need. I get a pretty good amount of info from the free Awstats already, so I’ll be saving my money.

Congratulations to Shaun Inman though for making a profitable and successful program like this, kudos.

  8. Geez, I can’t believe people are getting all worked up over $30.

Remember the days of $600 software upgrades? $900? $1,600? I sure do, having just paid for one of these a few months ago. $30 is an absolute steal on a sweet application such as Mint. Let’s keep things in perspective here.

  9. Agreed, Geof, $30 is a steal.

  10. Ash: Mint 2.0 comes with two styles, Vanilla Mint (the default) and Mint Chocolate, and if you prefer alternating colors the rows on all panes, there’s an options to enable it.

  11. I just upgraded… the new skin is nice and some of the peppers are improved.
