What I’m Doing in 2007

Dec 31, 2006 in ,

2006 was a great year for me. I got to experience working at a big web company, started blogging more often and took some interesting courses at school. I plan to keep up with that for the most part, but overall I will be taking it easy while working hard. There’s no need to overwork myself taking 6 classes.

Ever since I changed my major at the end of 2005, I’ve been about a semester behind - which is completely normal at Georgia Tech with the most students taking 5 years. I’ve had semesters where I took the recommended 17 or more credit hours and they were crazy. Chris and I have realized that slow and steady wins the race. I plan on taking only a few classes but doing well in them rather than mediocre grades in many classes. I especially want to avoid being burnt out mid-semester as I’ll be taking summer courses as well.

That will also make it easier to continue working on this blog at the current rate while affording some time to a small side project I’m working on, which could eventually turn into a startup. That being said I would also like to learn about the business aspect of running a startup and what it really takes. Paul Graham’s articles on startups have proved to be excellent resources for this type of information.

What are you planning on doing in 2007?

By the way, if you read this tonight you might be able to get in on a 4GB USB stick for $18 at OfficeMax. I saw it on digg earlier and got one for myself.

  1. Congratulations Paul. I saw the 4GB USB at OfficeMax on digg too, but I was too late. In 2007 I will be relaunching zamwi (my site), and focusing on the content of the site, after leaving gearfuse. I’m looking forward to reading more of your content. Good luck in 2007!

  2. I think it varies by your zip code.. they’re still in stock in mine.

  3. Well the 4GB USB is out of the question when you’re in another country… such as Australia. 7.34pm Jan 1st here.
Happy New Years to you, though!

  4. My expectations are almost same. I have to finish my degree
by this June and I am concentrating on building more content
to my blog. I will hopefully do a job this year.

Good luck to all your works! Happy New Year!

  5. I bet you’ve all ready been through How to start a startup, right? :)

  6. I’ve really enjoyed the blog this year. Keep up the good work.

  7. Hey Paul,

Just wanted to come by and wish you a Happy New Year. Good luck with everything that you’ve got planned this year and don’t work yourself too hard…

  8. Feel free to reach out for entrepreneurship/start-up/business related advice. Ideally I could be one of many friendly resources since you’ve provided so many great tips to me (via this blog) in 2006.
