Time Lapse Video Fun with Gawker

Oct 20, 2006 in , , ,

For the past few days I have been playing around with Gawker, a unique OS X application that lets you easily record time lapse video. Gawker makes it incredibly pain free to create these time lapse videos with the integrated iSights on all new Macs. So when it came time for my roommate to build his new Core 2 Duo PC, I thought it would be a great opportunity to put Gawker through its paces. For those visiting via RSS, you might have to click-through in case the embedded flash video below doesn’t work.

We used 2 MacBooks to record each camera angle.

  1. Care to share how you converted that .move to Flash.

  2. I used Final Cut Pro to export the .mov as a .fla and then used Flash to convert to a .swf. This was done during class on the dual G5’s that have FCP. =)

  3. Hahah that’s really nice :)

    Definitely gotta try that now!
That also reminds me how much I need to upgrade my PC. Macbook Pro is hot, but I need both systems in my life ;)

I basically want to get some parts up to date to run Vista really well. I’ve played with it recently and really really liked it (visually at least).

  4. That’s cool times 2; cool technique and cool subject too. My roommate just plays videogames all day :(

  5. Nice! I think I’m gonna try this now.

  6. My HDD is too full to install Final Cut. Does it let you export to the flash video .FLV format?

  7. Sweet, man. Now all you need is a good song to play in the background… Paperlilies does it really well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR2PknNUXNw
