New Tech to Aid BitTorrent Transfers
Om Malik, whom I met last night at the WordCamp kickoff, introduces a new protocol called Cache Discovery Protocol or simply CDP. It works by finding better, cached seeds on the network for your bittorrent client. Once fully rolled out, CDP could dramatically increase the peformance and speeds of file transfers on the BitTorrent network.
Hallelujah! I wonder what the first client to utilize this technology will be?

why would anyone still use bit torrent, news groups are much better. You dont have to upload which means faster downloads, and news groups always max out your connection because it is not p2p it is connecting to a news group server like http://www.newshosting.com It is so much better then any p2p solution. bobby, there is a very simple answer to that - newsgroup and usenet accounts are not free. When done properly and at the right time, bittorrents can reach speeds of several megabytes per second down.
Paul is right there, Bobby. While Usenet certainly still has its uses- for example, it’s a far better method of acquiring less popular or older files- it has some real shortcomings when compared with BT’s ease of use, more efficient downloading methodology (which, as Paul said, is often much faster) and complete lack of cost, it’s easy to see why most have moved on to BitTorrent. Personally, I use both, depending on the type and age of the “asset” I’m seeking.

My problem with newsgroups is that it is incredibly hard to find the file i want. with torrents there are a million torrent sites with a bunch of files each. newsgroups only have NewzBin (which isnt free), and the other sites that use NewzBins files.
I already pay for the subscription, i dont want to pay for the website to get nzbs.

Have you seen this new router from Asus?
It’s got a 160GB hard drive, shows up in iTunes, has 3x better signal than a normal router but maybe more importantly..
It has built in Bittorrent so you can leave it on 24/7 downloading you files without needing your pc at all!
I agree with Bobby. Usenet is such a better solution and I can get primo speeds on my DSL connection here in the Southeastern United States. Totally maxes the dsl router out. I really dont think its possible to get a faster connection for me.
Combine a good Newsgroups Provider like http://www.newsdemon.com and a good nzb service and life is good.
