No Net

May 27, 2006 in ,

Sorry for the lack of updates and replies to emails lately. For some reason my Time Warner RoadRunner cable service at home has stopped working. I’ve been without internet for the past two days, with the exception of checking email via my phone’s Opera Mini browser. Hopefully a technician from Time Warner will stop by tomorrow anytime between 8AM and 8PM to fix everything.

  1. Gotta love those 12 hour windows.

“So I’m supposed to sit at home without internet for 12 hours waiting for the guy to show up?”
“I’m sorry sir, that’s the best we can do.”
    “Yeah…”

  2. You losing your internet was good for me to find out about Opera mobile browser. Nice.

  3. Man, I am suprised you have survived.

  4. What kind of phone do you have? I’m on Sprint with a Treo 650 and only pay $10/month for unlimited data. The speed is decent as long as you’re on mobile optimized pages (which there are dozens of portals full of). I’ve found I can do almost anything on my Treo that I do as part of my daily news/email routine on my iBook or Mac Mini.

Definitely makes being away from my broadband a lot easier (especially when on the road or waiting in line at the super market).

  5. Makes me wish I had a hip cool cat phone like yours…

Alltel fixes most problems over the phone, the only problem I’ve had where I had to wait a day was when I got my new modem and the landline couldn’t process the data correctly, so they had to put in a new landline. (Free)

  6. Mine randomy died a while back too (Comcast) and I had to wait a day. They said they would compensate us $1.24 or whatever our monthly rate was divided by 31. I thought “damn, I should definitely be getting more than a buck for a day’s downtime…”. But, the price of internet service is already too expensive. So I’m torn, is cable underpriced or overpriced?

  7. I’m BACK!! It turns out a squirrel or some other telephone pole dwelling rodent chewed on my cable line.

  8. Those squirrels love you Paul…
