Michael and Chris have released K2 Beta Two, the next installment of the WordPress theme that powers this blog. That being said, I am going to start the upgrade process which may be rather time consuming as I have modified just about every K2 file. So if you spot any weird things happening around here, you’ll know why. I also plan on finishing up Part 2 of Customizing K2 sometime tonight, but it might have to wait until tomorrow to get published.

The upgrade went well. I enabled AJAX live commenting again, let me know if there are any problems. There used to be one where the latest comments and related entries would mess up after a comment was submitted. I also enabled the Live Archives, but they are going to need a styling overhaul. If I get that working I will get rid of the tag cloud as Live Archives has some built in. Cheers. Oh and I fixed the navigation links bug where it would go over the border. I had accidentally used a class in my CSS called navigation, but K2 used that for the links, d’oh.
It’s a nice update, I’m loving mine so far, Michael and Chris did a good job on this one.

The race is on to see who can get their K2 theme out first :) I finally got around to putting WP2.0 and k2133 on my sandbox this aft, then he goes and release the new beta. And with icons no less. They’re grey-scaled and good to go (although there’s no real way to replace the edit icon, short of editing a core-file). And you don’t have any plugins to deal with either (new version of flickrRSS on the way).

Looks good- but I’ve noticed a glitch- the search box overhangs the “live and times” text. Mac OSX (panther) and firefox 1.5 javascript partially enabled.

@titanium_geek: I don’t have any “The Life & Times of…” text in this header.
Did you have to adjust anything with the width of your header? I have two small lines running up both sides of my header ever since I upgraded to K2. I am not sure if I did something wrong or what?
@Adam, that is a border that is new with r133+. You can disable it with border: 0px !important!; in #page.

Billy, K2 is completely compatible with WP2. Do give it a try, it really is an excellent theme as well as sturdy framework for whatever you plan on creating with it.

I had to ask after what I just went thru with 2 other themes, now that I tweaked “default” a little bit, I guess I’ll jump on K2 tomorrow, thx again.
