HOW TO Quickie: Change Firefox Throbber Link
You know that cool little loading icon on the top right in the Firefox browser? Apparently it’s called a throbber and you can change the link it goes to when you click on it.

1) Type about:config in your Firefox address bar and hit enter.
2) In the Filter box, type browser.throbber.url (although, just typing throb should suffice).
3) Under Preference Name, there should be a listing for browser.throbber.url. Select the listing and then right click > modify. Change the value of the URL in the text field, hit OK and you’re done.

What is the benefit of changing the throbber?
What URL would you change it to, instead of the default?
It’s just a little customization tweak. I changed it to a bookmark I frequent, such as my Mint stats page. It’s also a great place to hide a bookmark if you don’t want others to know about it.
Cool. I get it now! Very discreet…
Cool indeed! Yet another reason to love Firefox.
side note: I tried adding multiple URLs, like you can do for the home page, so that each URL opens in a new tab (separate URLs with | character) and it didn’t work =(
Wow!
Thanks for sharing this!
I found you through 9rules.
Love your blog.
